Default K&n cai loud!!!!

Installed a K&N CAI on my 13 FX4 6.2, it is very loud!! WAY more than I thought it would be. Call me a wuss but I had to take it back off after a few hundred miles, I just didnt enjoy all the howling from under the hood. I DO want a little sound from exhaust, but that's out the back, not all up in my engine compartment. I put the factory air intake back on with a K&N drop in. Much better now. I'm gonna list my CAI in the classifieds on this site in about a week, or you can send me a PM if interested, I'm going on vacation for a week so I'll do it after that. But you gotta want some noise if you want to use that!!

I hated the sound my aFe stage 2 made, especially when there's forced induction involved. Only benefit of that thing was the look under the hood. Even that got old. I have the firm belief that CAI's are a waste of money now.

if you just bolt them on then yes they're absolutely a waste of money. but better airflow with turbochargers and proper tuning makes all of the difference in the world. my Subaru STI gained 85hp at the wheels with an intake, 3" catted exhaust and tune.

I personally love the sound of turbos spooling but on my 5.4L the intake just sounded awful and was annoying so I took it off almost immediately.

I wonder if sound dampener or a cai with a cover like 5startuning uses would be any different

63-2584 is the part number, don't know what else it will fit. I thought about modifying it it quiet it down some but figured I better not screw up the part or the truck!!! It's just too loud for me.

I guess I am a wuss as well... AHAHAHAHAHAHA

I just installed one on my 2013 5.0 and it HOWLS like a **** as soon as you punch the throttle. My truck only has 800 miles and the intake has 100 miles and I am ready to remove it..... I am gonna give it another week and if I don't get use to it I will be removing it....I also have the TB spacer so not sure if it makes it any louder...

Was in a Speed shop last week, and even though they sell K&N stuff, really talked down about them being the "MacDonald's" of auto equipment, but making money because they sell something for every one. But they're pretty much junk (his words, but my experiences from the past)

He did say that AirRaid had the best quality stuff, bar none and he's not a stocking dealer for AirRaid either.

Good to know...

Ha!! Glad to hear I'm not the only wuss!! I'm a firm believer in K&N, I use the air filters on everything. I had a CAI on my 07 mustang but the exhaust was so loud I couldn't hear anything else. But on this nice new truck, it's too much. Lol
