Default Just ordered a 2012 Lariat

Well it's time to play the waiting game (8 weeks or so). I just ordered a 2012 Lariat fully loaded (to me at least). Here is what I opted for:
-black w/tan trim and tan interior
-6.2L V8
-4x4
-5 1/2 ft box
-18" chrome clad aluminum wheels
-chrome package
-all of the interior gizmos and upgrade options
-spray-in bed liner (done by the dealership, not the Ford one)

There has been a ton of hype around the Ecoboost motor, and it is VERY well deserved. But I wanted that big v8 sound after driving a v6 mustang for so long. I have other reasons but I don't want to stir the pot so to speak. Truthfully I would have been happy with the Ecoboost or 5.0 as well.

I didn't go for the 6 1/2 ft box because I just don't need it or like the way it looks as much. Also, I have been driving my mustang for 6 years so going to an even bigger truck would be more of an adjustment for me in terms of parking.

Any comments about the Sony sound system? I have heard mixed things about it. Anyways, that's my truck! It's gonna be really tough waiting for it to get here...

Hey man congratulations on your truck!

I just wanted to ask why you ordered the truck from factory? Was it just that you couldn't find one around where you live with all the options you wanted? Or you just wanted it made just for you?

I just ask because I just bought a fully loaded 2012 Platinum from the dealership where I live, had everything I wanted and just came off the train. Basically all the different ones I was looking at would be available as the selection here is massive.

Anyways best of luck, I went the other way, have driven my 2005 Mustang GT (v8) for the last 7 years since I bought it new in 2005 and have gone to a v6 ecoboost...I am a bit worried I will miss the sound but at least I am keeping my car!

i have a 2010 lariat with the sony system. to me, it sounds great, having the hard drive to store a couple of thousand songs is nice, i can also stream my i-phone music directly into it, very handy. i ain't no audiophile so to speak, but for me, the sound system is more than adequate...enjoy your truck, i sure enjoy mine !

Again curious as to why you both wouldn't wait to order a 2013. Did you get a smoking deal or something on 2012? In fact I thought you couldn't even order the 2012 anymore at this point. Can someone clarify. I would wait a couple extra weeks for the new changes in 2013 models. But thats just me.

I know in Canada right now it was a great time to buy a 2012. They need to clear room for the 2013's in summer so they have a lot of great incentives right now. Got mine with employee pricing and factory rebates. Got about $17,000 off of the original MSRP after everything was said and done.

Usually right when the new model comes out, they don't work with you as much at the dealerships.

You can still order. I didn't wait because the dealer was willing to deal. Got my fx4 $10k under sticker. Also I was told the 13s won't be on the lot until October.

If I could afford a truck like that, the 6.2 might have been my choice as well. I couldnt afford the 6.2 truck, so I chose power(EB) over sound(5.0).
