Well when I picked up my truck from the dealer yesterday they said I had the latest software update installed. I was like...um noooo...on the website it says I have an update ready for MyFordTouch Version 3.6.2!!
So I went out and bought a flash drive (3.0 so it is nice and fast), came home and started trying to download the software on my macbook pro. It was saying that java was not enabled (which it was when I checked) but here's the reason it may not pop up for all you Macbook users. Under security you need to go to Safari preferences...then the Security tab...then make sure all the necessary boxes are checked to allow Java and then click on the Manage Website settings button. In there click on the support.ford.com link and choose always allow from the drop down menu. This will allow the popup for the download to show and you can then click on run the application and allow you to choose your usb drive and all will be well with downloading on your beloved Macbook.
So the download took less than 5 minutes long (maybe about 3 or 4 minutes...I was talking to my dad at the time) I then proceeded to install it in the truck and the total time it took was roughly 28 minutes without a hitch. Paired my iPhone 5 without issue and so far like the little changes. I will report back again after using the update more.
The dealer was WRONG and I did have an older version of the software. I will have to let them know so they can update other people's software as needed.

I am having very good luck with this update. The BT/iPhone connection is fast, way faster than before...it connects while I'm still climbing in and getting settled. It has only been a couple of days but my IP5 has connected every time so far.
Overall the system seems much more responsive. Haven't played with the Nav too much, but hoping for good things there too!

Does anyone know why there is no update for the regular my ford sync not the mft system? Seems lame there is no update for us and clearly our systems are just as slow and could use an update.

Updated the morning and found it to be much more responsive. I also have the time bug, but that is no big deal. They finally programmed it to display artist and song title on the home screen. I can't believe this wasn't there from the start, but very glad it is there now. My preset were still there but I had to repair my phone. It's a nice update all in all.

Mine is still having the same problem. It can't seem to locate me correctly. I'll have to take it in next week.

I guess you do not own an Android device. My Nexus 7 does not need any internet connection. It has a built in GPS and work without a constant internet or 4g connection. Neither does my Samsung S3.
Yes. I know how to program a VCR (I am sure most people here do to). In fact I have designed software for much more complex systems in O&G for the last 19 years. We still use Microsoft software for areas that require intrinsically safe devices, but we go through a lot more testing it seems like than what MFT has gone through....because if we F up ...we will be on the 6 o'clock news. have a good day.

And how exactly would google maps replace MFT ? One is a web-based mapping service that requires a constant internet connection and the other is touch-based infotainment control software for a vehicle. YEs, MFT includes navigation mapping but that is only a small part of it's function. And how happy would you be if your navigation stopped working every time you lost a high-speed cell phone data connection? Because that's what would happen if google maps was running in your truck.
I've come to the conclusion that most of the complaints about MFT come from the same people that couldn't set the clock on their VCR in the '80s. I've owned $6 figure luxury cars with much worse.
If you really want to see state of the art software, test drive a Tesla. Even that is buggy as hell.

You can test this by routing your destination and then turning off all data to your phone and see how far you can stray from your course and it still show the map.

updated mine this morning. It took approximately 25 minutes to do this
update on my 2013 F150 King Ranch.
took a lot of advice that was given here in this thread - THANK YOU!
only problem I encountered was getting back on my home laptop and telling Ford
that I successfully completed installation. I will call them on Monday and have them
update my records. I tried 5 times and it would not report the upgrade to them.

I'm still waiting for my truck, but I updated the wife's 13' fusion yesterday. Pretty straight forward really. I didn't have any issues with the download or install.
To me navigating around MFT does seem quicker, doesn't take the screens as much time to transition.
