Default factory alarm system

what's up guys ! yesterday during the night, an unknown mother****er break in my truck(F150 2012). I've been in Edmonton for only 2 months and I already get my 2 cars break up. So, the reason of this post is, I went to a ford dealer and I ask them for a quote for the factory alarm system that they can add to my factory remote system...she cannot answer me but she gonna call me as soon as possible.

What is your experience/review about the factory alarm system ?
Is it useless ?
Does it include all the sensors like proximity, doors and starter kill switch ?

I also get a quote for a viper remote starter/alarm system and it's quite expensive (but i know the quality of this system is proven)

I will really appreciate your answer because i don't want to do a bad choice !

Thank you guys

Sorry to hear the unfortunate news! Some people these days just have no care or concern for other people or their property. I have the factory alarm and it's nothing great. It's better than nothing, but judging from your post, I think you need aftermarket. With the aftermarket you can have the proximity, glass, tilt and a guru of many other sensors that will put your mind at ease while you are away from your vehicle. You can even add a remote that will tell you what sensors went off and it will send you an alert via signal in your truck. The more you add, the more it cost to have the higher levels of security. It all comes down to how much you are willing to spend for your own peace of mind!

You're welcome. I'm surprised many more didn't chime in.

As you mention in the post the viper system is best for the security and its proven.Even you have to pay a little more but you can also get rid of all these security problem. Why not you try some used viper alarm because they are available in cheap rates.

All the factory alarm does is flash the lights, beep the horn, and disable the ignition once a door is opened after being locked by the remote. So, this means the asshats have already smashed a window or pried open a door. Get a good quality aftermarket with a proximity sensor.

There's no such thing as a factory alarm system. The OEM security system does not have an alarm built in. The only genuine alarm systems for F150's are aftermarket.

I got GUIDEPOINT installed at my dealer on my 2011. It's a wireless system they wire to the truck and its monitored 24/7 and if your wheels move without your key in the ignition they track the car and call you too. Pretty cool. Took them about 2 hours to install. No BS wires all out of sight. They have other benefits too like hotel/ travel discounts, roadside assistance, etc. etc., google it. I really like mine.

Ps, with GUIDEPOINT you can use the smartphone app to find your truck anywhere. It's a free app. If your stuck somewhere you hit the send my location button on the app and they know where you are and will send assistance and talk to you.
