Just how bad are stock Pirelli's?

My new FX4 has Goodyear SR-A's. They're worse than the Pirellis. I'm planning on having them changed out for some OEM 20's and Michelin M/S2's that I have in my garage even before I take possession of the truck next week. When I was test driving it I found that they rode far too hard for a p-rated 18" tire and were just laughable in the snow.

I drove them for a year thinking I'd just upgrade when they wore out, not wanting to drop $1200 on new tires with "good ones" still on it. That ended the second time I spun out on nothing but warm, wet pavement. I knew they were bad just from looking at them at the dealership (they are obviously NOT truck tires, but oh well...). Didn't cry one tear when they pulled them off with 30K+ miles still on them, in exchange for my trusty Firestone Destination ATs. Now THAT'S a tire.
I really like my Firestones too. That is except for the one that was flat on the bottom a couple of day's ago (two inch hex head screw).

I currently have them on my 2010 FX4 Supercrew...116000KM or 70000 + miles to date. They are not a good winter tire but I have made it through the past three Ontario winters without issue. Even pulled a stuck police cruiser out last year with them on. I just ordered my new tires today, M/T Baja STZ's, 275/60/20 and will have them on next week. If your truck is a 4x4 I would say you should be fine to stick it out with them. If your truck is a 4x2, get rid of them. 4x4 was my only saving grace with these. They are almost as useless in the snow as the Goodyear hockey pucks Ford was putting on the last generation of trucks...I had one of those too!
