Default Just hit 80k and it's time for new rotors - any suggestions?

Hey guys,

I hate beating a dead horse, but all the threads I looked up were a couple years old and I would like some opinions on what rotors/pads are best for our trucks. I have larger wheels/tires on my truck so an improvement over stock would be ideal, but I don't have the $2000 for a big brake kit so I'm not trying to go too crazy (plus I don't NEED it).

I have heard good stuff about the Z36 Powerstop kit, but I really don't need slotted/drilled rotors (nor do I really want them). I also heard they dust a lot, and I don't want my Fuels to get covered in dust constantly. I could care less about the stockers though. I have also heard good stuff about the Raybestos rotors, but then I saw a lot of threads about their quality going downhill since they moved their plant so I'm unsure now.

Also, are stainless steel brake lines a noticeable improvement over the rubber ones? If so I'll do it all at once.

I'm willing to spend a couple hundred more over stock, as it's about time to put some money into the truck and they would last a while. What is everyone running and how do they like it?

Thanks!!

I went with the Z36 on my F150 and Z23 on my Tahoe, both with drilled and slotted rotors. I haven’t seen any dusting through about 5k on the F150. Really happy with them so far.

OEM are sufficient. I might go Z36 if I tow a lot. (I do)

OEM rotors with the "Super Duty" pads for F150. Super Duty referring to the usage not the truck. They are recommended for towing and heavy use. Available through the dealer.

Happy with the Power stop Z36 as well. Just put them on the car also. Got the ones that were not drilled and slotted for that one. I put a set of cheaper Raybestos rotors on first but I thought I noticed warping after a short time so I redid the job with Power stops. So far so good.

I went with Bremsen rotors and pads after my OEMs needed replacement at 160K (km). Doing some other work at the dealer they were impressed with the quality compared to OEM. Made in Germany I believe.

I went with sloted StopTech rotors and sport pads. Cold and towing stopping power is fantastic. Had issues with their street pads in the rear, lot of sqealing, so I changed those to an Akebono pad with SS hardware since the rears are rust monsters. Been stopping great, smooth and quiet.

You can't go wrong with Centric rotors. Drilled and slotted aren't necessary.

Just installed the HAWK drilled and slotted with HAWK pads... Outstanding stopping power .. took off EBC slotted rotors with Hawk pads... great combo too.. they lasted 60K miles.
