Default Just had my first oil change, and.........

I have a 2014 5.0 STX. I`m walking out of the dealer after getting my first oil change (640 miles). While walking, I`m looking at my printout & I see "1- Motorcraft filter" & 6 - 5W-20 Motorcraft oil. I go to the truck & get out the owner`s manual, then look up capacities. Next to 5.0 engine it states 7.7 quarts. I go back into service with my receipt & the owner`s manual. I show the writer where it states the correct capacity. She tells me that the manual is wrong & the truck only calls for 6 quarts with a filter. She states that is all they put in any 5.0.

I told her I have the same engine in my 2013 Mustang GT, & it calls for 8 quarts. She said "different oil pan". Are they jerking me "and every other 5.0 owner" around, or is the manual wrong??

BTW: The dealer is McCafferty Ford in Langhorne Pa.

Easy way to find out. Pull the dipstick...

7.7 is correct.

She's an idiot. The manual is correct, same for my truck 7.7 qts. I always just put in the full 8, won't hurt a thing.

Pull the dipstick and check to see if it's within range of the cross hatch pattern. If no, then I'd go back and demand they put the rest in on their dime for your inconvenience having to jump thru these hoops.

Just changed mine about a month ago in the 5.0...7.5 quarts got it to the top cross-hatch mark on the oil dipstick. I'd check the oil level my friend it's probably within the lower end of the cross-hatch marks of the dipstick which in all fairness is still within spec but what if you parked on a hill and start it up? I'd advise not going back to that dealer for oil changes. Could be wrong but I dont think the filter will hold a quart of oil.

Saving two qts per oil change, while keeping the vehicle within spec, seems a great way for the dealer to maximize profits. ...And is a freaking shame, if true.

I would agree with that but it sounds like they charged him correctly for the amount they put in. They also just click click on the computer to select your make model year and engine so it is odd that it would pull up the wrong capacities.

I've had 4 oil changes at my dealer with my 2014 5.0, and all of my receipts say 8 Quarts.
Not to mention the 35 times, they did it correctly with my 05 too.
That whole crew needs a sit down.
