Default JL's 09 F-150 Truck Build (Pic Heavy)

Well I had this thread on another forum but pretty much converted to this forum as there's so much more traffic on this one. It wasn't getting seen by a lot on the other forum, so I figured I'd share my story on this forum since I've been here awhile. I also like to keep track of what I've done to the truck.

The story of this truck: Bought this truck in July of 2010. I was 17 and working 40 hours at a grocery store thinking I was on top of the world. I had about 14 grand saved up for a new truck and was looking something like a 04 F-150 to play around with. Ever since the 09 body style came out I was absolutely in love with them and when I saw one on the lot I could afford, I jumped on it. Since I was only 17 I of course had to have the payments under my parents name, but I made the down payment and have paid every driving bill since. After I picked up 3 more jobs, I now can afford the payments AND toys to put on it :rocker:.

Now done with the boring crap, on to the mods, present and future!

The day I brought her home. 09 XLT SCREW V8 5.4 Sterling Grey

Christmas 2010 present from mom and pops: SmittyBilt nerf bars!

January 2011 purchase and install a K&N Cold Air Intake

With my graduation money in June of 2011 I installed a Flowmaster Super 40 Series. 3 inch tips SIDO. One of my good buddies dad owns a muffler shop and cut me a really good deal on it so I scooped it up!

Playing paintball at a high level I get left with a lot of gear from the previous years sponsorships. A guy I know traded me a 12 inch kicker and 1000 watt Planet Audio amp for a loader I had laying around- so I took it! I plan on fabing up a box to better fit under there, but this will do.

On November 11th, 2011 I got in a wreck. Two light bulbs I had sitting on the dash holder fell off after I went over a railroad track catching my attention, when I look up- BAM! SUV rear end.

So one good thing came out of the wreck. I got a Lariat grille and got fogs in the bumper!

So after the crash was all said and done it was mid December. Went with the family on a 3,000 mile roadtrip back up north. I've always hated my tire and rim combo so right before we left I picked up a pair of FX4 rims on CL for $250. I knew when I got back I would need to start saving for new shoes as the roadtrip would put the tires almost to the end of their life.

Nitto Terra Grapplers size 285/65/18 (33's).

As she sat before I got the tires installed:

Custom painted the HD heads on my own. Spent maybe $10. Made a how to thread here.

Then I realized I needed tow hooks. So, I removed the valence and picked some hooks up at a scrap yard of a 2010, bolted them right on. In the future I MIGHT get the proper valence but it looks really good to me without it.

Then I bought some HD tails.

20% tint up front ensued.

Picked up some XD Monsters off a guy that works will American Racing for cheap.

After having this much sag I decided to pick up an add a leaf. A total bitch to install btw.

With the add a leaf. I love the way it looks, when it was just leveled It felt like it was a bit nose high even though it wasn't

Then came a tuner with a performance tune from MPT. Love it.

Bought some fender flares off a forum member.

And the latest mod, bought an FX grille off a forum member. Makes the front end look SO much better and am absolutely in love.

Keep checking back on the thread as I am always trying to upgrade!

And here's some miscellaneous pics of the truck

Basically a before and after picture. Saw this truck in the parking lot and even though its a 6.5 bed and has tint, that's how I looked. Obviously grille isn't on.

Christmas in Indiana 2012

Slid into a 2-3 foot ditch and got stuck, then the guy that pulled me out got stock on the other side of the road haha!

Ha, I'm 17 now. My parents bought the truck but I'm making payments on it now. It's nice having the responsibility of a new truck, makes you learn lessons about the importance of taking care of your stuff. Nice truck.
