Default iPhone + sync+ messages question

I have a 2013 fx4 with sync touch
I have a few questions
When I tap phone it shows messages as an option but says something like my phone is not supported for this feature.

I have an iPhone 6plus with the latest iOS

Is there a newer sync version that I need to upgrade to?
If so, how do I do that?
How do I find out which version of sync I have?

Thanks for the help

Hi Erdvm1,

Give this a try:

http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-t...=my-ford-touch

You'll be able to receive and listen to incoming texts, but the iPhone is not compatible with sending texts from MyFord Touch. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks
I have updated to the latest software
And no luck

It also will not open mobile apps such as Spotify.

Rebecca, 1st question
If I have the latest software and the phone is being recognized and performing other Bluetooth functions just fine what is the next step to get it to recognize and read incoming texts

Also, how do I get it to open mobile apps?
I've started by saying
Mobile applications
Mobile apps
Open Spotify
Phone the mobile apps
Your help is appreciated

You're welcome! The link I provided above is for how to get MyFord Touch or SYNC to recieve texts. Following the instructions on that link should turn that feature on, but in some cases, deleting and re-pairing your phone is required. Here are the instructions for that (Tip #3):

http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-t...=my-ford-touch

MyFord Touch does not have AppLink so the commands for mobile apps won't work. You can use the USB or Bluetooth Audio commands listed here:

http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-t...=my-ford-touch

Make sure the app is open and running on your phone. I hope this answered all of your questions! If not or you have any more, don't hesitate to ask!

In waiting for your reply I called ford tech support and they said the
iPhone 6 is not supported for any of the messaging through sync (Gen 2)
Do you agree or do you feel I can get it to recognize and read incoming messages

Thanks again

I just tested it and it worked. As long as you're able to turn notifications on in your iPhone, then you'll be able to receive and listen to them. Once you turn them on, it can take a while for them to come through; please note that you'll only see the ones that come in while you are connected to MyFord Touch.

Also, I forgot to tell you how to check your SYNC software! There are two ways:

1. Log into your Owner.Ford.com account, click on SYNC & HOW-TOS, then CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES. The next screen will tell you if you have an update available or if the software is up-to-date. To the right, you should also see FULL SYNC HISTORY; this will tell you your current version.

2. PM your VIN or press the following on your MyFord Touch screen:

Gears > ?HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION

Jot down what the CCPU S/W Version is and me or Shaay will let you know which version it translates to. If you do send a PM, please be sure to put "What software do I have?" in the subject line so we can quickly look it up for you.
