Instructions for calibration

Instructions for calibration
We imported a 2009 F150 to the UK. At the time we thought the mileage was high - 11,000 miles - this had been a demo model and had all the knick knacks fitted so we thought it was still a good deal.
We have been driving it for six months putting around 6/7 gallons in the tank per week (the UK is small!). The mileage now says 16,000 miles. It also tells me that I have around 70/80 miles to empty when the arrow is almost on empty. I have asked our mechanic and his friend who is an auto electrician. This chap is very frustrated because he thinks the calibration is wrong but nothing in the manuals tells us how to fix this. Does anyone know where I can find some instructions to rectify our problem. I still love our truck and so does everyone I know - she takes up two parking slots in the supermarket but - who cares.

The only thing I could think to check would be to make sure the display is in English mode (not metric). Hold the reset button to enter the setup menu, then cycle through until you get to "Units".
Good luck

No idea about the calibration......
But blimey thats brave of you driving one of those around in the UK. I used to drive a Corsa which sometimes struggled to get into parking spaces so I can understand you taking up 2.
It must get some great attention as it'll put any Hilux, L200, Navara etc in the shade.

70/80 miles to empty would mean you have around 3-4 gallons in the tank, depending on your average mpg. With a 36 gallon tank that would be around 10% capacity so it should show almost empty. Maybe I don't understand the question.

Thanks for your replies.
We will try the suggestions.
Rob, there are a lot of US trucks over here. A chap round the corner to us has a black Dodge but most people just buy English trucks. They have improved but the bed is too small to get much in.
Jef, it cost me around £2,000 to get the truck from Atlanta to the port of Charleston and then across the "pond" to Felixstowe. The killer was when it arrived in the UK, we had to pay 22% import duty on the price of the truck and then 17 1/2% VAT on top of that. I still think the truck was worth it though.
Thanks chaps.

According to your gauge and miles to empty its about right. The low fuel light should come on when the needle just hits e and then you have 50 miles range to go.

Isn't an imperial gallon like 1.2 of US gallons

The one thing I noticed in the two times I received the low fuel warning is that the 'Kms to Empty' drops significantly faster than the actual kms traveled. Last week, I traveled 15kms yet my 'Kms to Empty' dropped by 25. My driving environment wasn't any different from what it was to get the average L/100km rating. I wouldn't trust the reserve to last very long at all.
And my needle was quite far down by the time the warning kicked in as well. Sounds like it is working right.
