I added a pair of led strips under the silver trim (bigger console with floor shifter), then wired a small switch to turn them on. I tapped into the power and ground for the power point inside the console compartment. I'll post some pics tommorrow.

Ok the switch is mounted in the left front corner of the opening, real easy to find without taking your eyes off the road. There are two 6 led strips on either side of the opening, toward the top, but not visible when looking into the console. Lights it up nice, especially at night. I powered it off the wiring going to the power point at the bottom of the console. Hot all the time. You'll have to pull the console out and take it apart somewhat to hide the wiring and make it neat.

damn, great idea! like the flow through console but i hate floor shift automatics....i'd just suggest get rid of 2 cupholders and have a storage compartment instead...4 cupholders for 2 seats doesn't make sense....I think the console shift should be deleted...I't doesn't belong on a truck.

good idea!

I did similar, but I installed a mercury switch in the cover, so when I open the console, the light autos on and when closed, autos off.

You can see the switch in the lower left of the cover. Not a very good pic, but you get the idea.......
