Default Installed my winch today

With the horrible weather and nothing else to do on my day off I decided today would be perfect to install the winch. I ordered a Rough Country hidden winch mount and a 12000lbs Badlands winch last week. The install was really straight forward, with the only modifications I had to make was drilling new holes into the back of the winch control box to be able to mount it onto the RC control box relocation mount, and I had to bend and cut a tab off of the positive side battery cable to attach the circuit breakers. I also installed the optional wireless remote for the winch. I cut a little bit of the washer off of the factory horn bolt and used it to secure the box. Everything works great with no problems.

Nice, I have the same exact setup minus the wireless. Got a link so I can study up about it?

I found some of the reviews rather funny yet deceitful describing the distance they could use it at, some say 75' others said over 100' when in reality the 12000lb winch only has 65' of cable on it.

Have you used your Bad Land winch in a "situation" yet? I burned up two 3000lb winches on my atv within a month. I was wondering if the 12,000 was any better, the 3000 was loud as hell and kept overheating. Not what you want when you need it, good think I bought the warranty. I took back to HF and got a Warn and have not had any issues since.

This one isn't loud at all. In fact, my 2000lb Warn on my 4 wheeler is much louder than this one. The noise probably has something to do with the sizes of the smaller winches.

Did those winches have a permanent magnet motor or a series wound motor? Series motors are very quiet and operate much cooler for longer duty cycles at maximum loads.

Can you post a pic of your circut breaker without the battery terminal cover in place. I couldn't decide what to do with mine so I put it under the nut that tightens the battery terminal, and i'm not sure I like it that way.

Permanent magnet, which most atv winches use due to the lower amp draw. That being said, the warn does not sound like it is going to gernade on a hard pull like the bad land. I am asking because I have considered putting a bad land 12,000 on my truck, but have been hesitant due to my experience of my winch ATV. Which It why I asked have you used your winch in a "situation" before.
