Installed my 1.99 dead pedal !!
Hi all, i thought i would share this with you. I have been wanting to install a dead pedal pretty bad in my 11 XLT (i know, some people dont see the point, but i think they help a lot).
So anyhow, i went to a local pick and pull, and found one in a 97 Mustang. 2 bolts later, i walked to the cashier counter. The kid working billed it out at a whopping $1.99 !!!
So, when i got home, i determined where i wanted to mount it. It turns out that it will mount pretty nicely along the e-brake assembly. I had to use my cut-off wheel to modify the bracket slightly, but it turned out pretty nice. (you can see the "v" notch at the top to clearance for the e-brake lever, and i also shortened the length of the bracket arm at the bolting point. the original holes for the Mustang mount were about 1.5" further out from the 2 holes i drilled for mounting)
Where i mounted it: drilled two holes, and the bolts that came with the pedal cut their own threads.
The bracket bolted up with a fresh coat of "hammered" black paint:
And, finally with the foot pad back in place:
All and all it didnt take very long to do. And it certainly was cheap !!!
For anyone else thinking about doing this mod, i would highly recommend looking at local pull yards. I have seen them on ebay for 15+, but as i mentioned earlier, mine only charged me 2.00, and there was more than one for me to choose from.

thanks.... i have actually never owned and seldom have driven sports cars. But, after reading on them, i wanted to try it out. it helps a lot with the angle at my left ankle... just makes it more comfortable!

After the initial installation and driving around for a couple of weeks, I opted to install a 1½" spacer ( rectangular aluminum ) between the bracket and the pad for ergonomic reasons ( like the seat all-the-way-back ). That and ... It put the dead pedal close to the same plain as the brake and gas pedals.

I find it weird how Ford chooses what to put them on. We had one on our 02 Escape but there is not one on our 12 Focus. I would say the Focus is more sporty than the Escape. Go figure.

Those are kinda nice. my girlfriends 02 mustang has one. i dont really have a need for one since im a two footed driver but in her car theres not much room to move both feet so i rest my foot on that fake pedal. its pretty comfortable.
