Damn it. So do I need the 100 series? I am having a really hard time determining if the 100 series is "Plug & Play" in my 2009. I know it is on 2011+, but I can't find anything about 2009 except what was posted in this thread (here: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/instal...2/#post4374483).

You can get the OLD 100 series and PATS transceiver, but even that does not control the climate system. In all honesty for 2009-2010 you are better off getting the Fortin, as it cheaper and less complicated to install.
The OLD 100 series runs about $300 and the PATS adapter is another $50 and requires and external keyfob.

The NEW 100 series is not compatible with the 2009-2010.

So what happens then on the OEM climate control when you start it? Am I only warming up the engine? I'm sure the heated seats won't activate, but will the HVAC resume whatever setting it was when I last turned the truck off?

That said, I just keep my controls set at say "3" for fan speed, "hot" for the winter here and get into a nice toasty truck after starting with the Fortin unit. The factory feature is cool on those that had it installed from the factory and it automatically does all those things (and then shuts them off/lets you take control once key-in/brake/disable remote start when you enter truck) but def. isn't a deal breaker. Could see it being of benefit if temperature shifts were an issue but how often is that happening?
Now...auto windows down/up from remote. There is something I wish I could do!

I'm just wondering what happens if I leave the climate control on say, 76 degrees in auto mode and turn it off. Then the next morning I remote start the truck; does the Auto climate control HVAC system run or not? I understand that a manual system goes back to whatever it was left at, but not sure about automatic climate control.

It was my understanding that only the factory installed (not dealer add on or self) remote start was able to interface with the HVAC controls (i.e. Detect outside temp, adjust heat/cool accordingly, etc). So, even the "Ford" ones sold on eBay, etc will not allow for this function and will be much like those of us running the Fortin units.

I installed remote access and have yet to figure out how to get in a toasty warm truck-. it's been as cold as 11 degrees here and heat wont come on. iv used both settings under remote start "auto and last setting " still nothing.
any thoughts why ??

That is true for the 2009-2010 model year. For the 2011-2014 trucks, the new Ford 100 series, and the new Ford modular system (one-way, two way, and mobile access) all control the HVAC upon remote start.
I have the old 100 series on my Fiesta, it does not control the HVAC. I preset it before I shut off the engine, and voila. With my truck, I installed the modular two-way system, one less thing I have to remember
Had that on my Ram with the Viper system, it was real nice in the summer, that was back in 2000. Ford is finally making standard with the 2018 model year, it currently available on some of their Lincolns and the Taurus I believe.

Have had it on all my Audi/VWs. My TT has always had it on, other VW I have had to activate through my VCDS program...but it's slick.
There is a module flash for cars that don't have it as well in the VAG world.
