Ford does sell its own ESP for Used Ford vehicles as well ... if you are buying it from a Ford dealer, they sell it to you outright. If you are buying it from a non Ford dealer, a Ford dealer have to inspect it and then they will give you a certificate declaring it to be certified to be warranted by Ford ESP or sell it to you. If the Audi dealer will arrange the used Ford ESP for you, you should jump at it ...

Thanks to EVERYONE, good and bad opinions are always welcome. So I just found out some very comforting information. I paid for a carfax report myself (dealer only had provided an autocheck report which only had 3 history events on it (date manufactured, date bought, and date it went for sale at the new dealership). Carfax said it had 17 history items found so I bought the report. Turns out the miles are so high because the truck was driven between Boise ID and Fairfield CA on a regular schedule. Oil was changed regularly by the dealer in CA, ALONG with the following maintenance:

@19k miles: oil system flushed, air filter replaced, oil changed, fuel system cleaned, rear diff fluid changed, front diff fluid changed

@26k miles: oil and filter, transmission fluid flushed, and changed

@35k miles: oil and filter, transfer case flushed, transmission fluid changed

@40k miles: oil and filter changed

@46k miles: oil and filter changed

@55k miles: front differential oil changed, fuel system cleaned, engine oil flushed, oil changed, rear differential fluid flushed/changed

So either the owner was really **** about fluid changes, or they were doing lots of towing is how I read this information. Who else has the transmission fluid and differentials flushed/changed that often? At least now I feel there is sufficient history of maintenance that I don't have to worry about doing all of those fluid changes myself to get a baseline. Whatcha think?

at this point it would come down to how the vehicle drove, if i heard any unusual noises coming from the engine or saw any leaks. assuming thats all well in good and its what you really want i say go for it.

Go for it! Maintenance was done, towing or not these trucks are made for it. It's all highway miles, no big deal. The truck is clean, you love it, the price suits you, it's not going to be your DD so by the time resell comes around you'll average out on the miles. The dealer is being honest, do your overnight test drive and enjoy your new truck!!

It seems you want the truck and you just got added security with the Carfax report. Drive it. No issues then I think you will be buying it! GL with the truck or whatever route you end up going.
