Default Ignition switch

Hello has anyone changed the ignition switch in the 09-14 trucks? The reason I ask is my truck wont chime with key in it unless I push in on it and if I wiggle the key my dash lights will flash. The biggest thing is not having to pay for a reprogram or is the pats system separate from it. Can someone help out.

LMK if you do....I just had mine go bad today. I was actually wondering if it was a "feature" or something that I hadn't noticed. Whenever you wiggle it or slightly turn back on it, the fuel pump hums and the daash lights go off on. FWIW, my mechanic said the shop notes don't have any mention of pats or flashing. I have done it on older fords with pats and had no issue whatsoever, take the old one out and put the new one in. I believe the pats portion at the switch is just the ring antenna. memory of everything is held in the computer.

Last time I did one that I was unsure about, I took everything that I could get off the column and then drove to the dealer parking lot to put the new part on. That way at least I wouldn't have to pay the tow bill.

Great idea!

Mine is like the OP, it doesn't chime if I open door with key in ignition and I have locked truck several times with key in ignition. Mainly because I am used to my car which has key fob that just has to be in your pocket and will not let you leave it in the car.
Not used to having to remove key so its has become second nature to turn off truck, and exit. With no alarm, key gets locked inside.
However, I think previous owner might have disabled key in ignition alarm.
OP might want to check to see if alarm has been disabled as it seems to be a very popular mod.

Min don't chime, plus if I wiggle the key the dash lights flash as well. Its hard to think most people want the chime gone and we are looking for it to just want to kill it....lol. I bought the truck used with 124k so I would like it correct before changing things.

Mechanic changed mine today. Time from receiving the part to being done was 15mins. No flashing or reseting needed. We just cleared the code after it was done. Ignition is fine now. No flickers or random chimes/hums anymore.

I had mine replaced before I bought the truck, it was my only requirement. I don't know how the tumbler is keyed though but the pats and everything is separate. The tumbler is easy to remove, I just did it on my column swap yesterday
