Icon Coilovers install and ride review

Wow, we have sold a lot of Icon Coilovers and never had any reports back but Awesome Coilovers. If you have any noise (which you shouldn't) I would get in touch with Icon....of course make darn sure everything is tight. The sway bar not being sufficiently tightened is notorious for being a clunking culprit.

Stealhead 6.2,
Here is the deal with the clunking. If I had to guess, I would say you had a raptor and heard that from other raptor guys. The reason for that sound is because that sound means the rear bypass shocks are working correctly. The way bypass shocks work, is they had individual valved inside the bypass tubes which allow for adjustability based on position. Some bypasses are quieter than others. I know that as far as pure race shocks go, foxes are quieter than kings, for example. If some owners of these shocks say they are silent, then that is because they have opened/closed the bypass valves so much that it does not even work like a bypass shock. All this means that basically everytime you hit a bump, the bypass shock makes a clicking sound, because it is opening up that valve to dampen properly.
Unfortunately a bunch of raptor guys want to put race stuff on their trucks and expect it to have the same creature comforts as factory, but that's just not going to happen.
Hope this helps.
Connor

So after getting no response from ICON, I emailed Alex at F150lifts where I purchased the coilovers. Alex emailed ICON and got this response which completely fixed the problem.
"We have an aluminum ring that sits below the foam bump stop on the shaft of the shock. It prevents the bump stop from squeezing out of the coil cup on compression. If the bump stop is not all the way down and seated in the coil cup, this ring can rattle and cause this sound. Easy fix – just push the bump stop all the way down so the foam in apply pressure to the ring – this will prevent it from "
This solution worked and now I have no more rattles. Very happy I got these coilvers they ride very well. Thanks again Alex for all your help. I will definitely be using your company again soon for my next project.

Glad you guys figured out the washer. When I installed mine i saw the "bump stop " and washer at the bottom on the shaft and figured that was where the noise reports came from. I made sure they were seated and I've never heard the slightest sound from mine. Been on for over 6k now and still love em.
I live in Denver and I didn't get the extra coating , but did buy the Icon covers. And after their first winter they look brand new underneath aside from rub marks on the coils themselves. Got mine from stage 3 with Camburg arms and I've been very happy. I think they do ride a smidge stiffer than say the foxes , but I can take curves and " round abouts" way faster than a truck that weighs over 7k should lol.

Yep. I even went alittle further and made a neoprene strap to wrap around the top of the coilover to seal even better and give more coverage. At the end of winter I took them off and washed them , and the coilovers (car wash) and put them back on.

I have been experiencing this noise on my 2019 F150 with Icon Stage 2, driving me insane! I put my finger up in the coilover and found the bump stop was not seated against the washer, I think that fixed it, thanks for this post!!!!
