^^like you've seen in the other thread that is going about this, some people will just disagree for the sake of argument, there's enough info out there to show that set on the highest setting this is a common failure when the truck is seeing anything but regular road use. Not saying they don't work great while they are together but there's more than enough info to show that if your looking for a lift and are going to use the truck for any kind of wheeling than pic something of higher quality. Like cougarkiller said you gotta pay to play nothing wrong with letting potential buyers know they might have issues, that's what the forums are for

So you were running the 5100s and a spacer?

The problem is these shocks are a mass produced product for the everyday blue collar truck owner.. the only way to make these and make any kind of profit is to have all the parts manufactured off shore and "assembled in the USA" ... China's mass production of metal parts is such a huge operation and takes place in these MASSIVE factories where quality control is less than optimal. Tack that onto the fact that Chinas alloys are less than stellar and you get a few guys like me that end up with a bad set. It happens.....

I have ran Bilsteins on various off road cars, dune buggys & baja bugs back in the day and NEVER had one give out. It's a sign of changing times where good ol Amerrrrrrican products get farmed out to Off Shore production.

I used to work for a company that imported Electrical Wire & Cable from China and you would be floored by some of the things I saw coming out of the containers

Wouldn't doubt it, I've been figuring this out with a lot of my made in USA craftsman tools that I've had to swap out, they give you knew ones that are made in China and they last a fraction of the time of the original that you had in the first place.

I had a pro comp stage 1 kit (coil spacers and dropbracket) and wanted to upgrade as well. I went to Outlaw Offroad, and they called Icon and had the same shocks "custom made" but with a bigger snout on the bottom to accommodate for the lift. There's really no point on trying to get ones with bigger travel because the stock components can't handle that much anyway. and the way they come it rakes the front up to about 8-8.5 inches lift. So if you get these plan on adjusting them. They cost about $1050 and $1350 with install and alignment.

Bringing back an old thread. To the OP or whoever can help me out. Just installed the front coilovers on my 2011 f150. I had the same issue with the incorrect directions and also had to rotate the top plate 90* to line up the holes. Only issue I can see is the pivot point of the top mount no longer rolls left the right to rotate. It is now front to back. I'm hearing a metal rattling noise almost like if the spring was loose over sharp bumps at even slow speeds. Shocks are set at the icon delivered 2" setting. Any help apreciated!
