I want to take my fx4 to a new level...looking for advice on suspension etc
 

hi guys,

I have a 2014 fx4 screw appearance sgm with ecoboost. currently running all stock.

I want to get some new wheels, tires, and suspension.

here's my objective:

mostly street driving. stiffer suspension for cornering without sacrificing too much comfort. I want a lifted appearance but NOT extreme. maybe 4". I want to reduce nose dive too.
I want to feel more acceleration to the ground.

I am liking the ballistic jester wheels in a 20x9 and would wrap them in a nice looking tire that suits the lift and agressive look but not necessarily for rock crawling.

planning on tuning the ecoboost. also probably getting fender flares to accommodate the 20x9 with the -12 offest (http://www.ballistic-wheels.com/Blac...ster-814-black)

Can you recommend a suspension kit or two to suit my desires?

P.s. I'm not 100% sure on 20" wheels. looking for a truck like appearance, but like i said, not going rock crawling.

If you really want 4", you'll have to start looking at real lift kits. Otherwise going with coilovers is the other option but they would put you in the 2"-3" range in the front. Coilovers should give you the look you are looking for without it being too obvious (i.e. no drop down front cross member)

A rear sway bar will help tighten the rear up a little more in terms of body roll. You would want #7899 since you'll have a lift. http://www.hellwigproducts.com/looku...2014&Make=Ford

what's better wheel size, 18 or 20? more tire less wheel i'm wondering? or vice versa.

4" is getting into real lift territory, why not go the full 6"?

You're truck so it depends on you, but I'm more of a fan of less wheel more sidewall.

I can't stand the 30" wheel on a 33" tire look. ESPECIALLY on a lifted rig. DEFINITELY on a 4x4

my truck is stock... no level yet. I play on puttin on a 2" leve lin the front to make it even with the back.

current wheels and tires are: 20x9 +18 wheels, Lt305/55r20 tires. (33s) that kinda shows you how much wheel vs sidewall there is. now if you gonna go with a 4" lift, you'll fit 35's no problem, and that will look great, so imagine my tires pictured but with more sidewall, that's how you'll look with 35s on 20" wheels

yeah i saw some tires and wheels on a tuscany f150 today. i think they were 325's on 20" wheels. with the 6"(? i think) lift they suited it just fine :)

I'd love to make my truck look like a tuscany but not so blingy. some fender flairs, maybe rocker panels, a ram air hood, and a bush bar combined with the suspension/wheels/tires will get me close to that look without the HUGE markup.

Mine is a 2014...I have a 1.5" AS level, 20x9 +12 wheels with 275 60 20 P-rated Nitto Terra Grapplers. I have Fox 2.0 front coil-overs and rear shocks on order to replace my Autospring spacers upfront and the rear shocks. That will move me to 2" lift. Then, I'll eventually replace my current tires with 295 60 20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, which is a hybrid mud/AT tire new on the market. I'll add a tune and speedometer calibration when i move to 34" tires. No trimming on my current set up.
