5.0 mpg
So I have been on the road for a few days and put about 1200 miles on the new set up and have been very happy with the results so far.
After removing the leveling kit and installing stock load range and size duratracs here is how the truck is set up.
Completely stock 2012 FX4 5.0 with around 70K on the clock. Open bed with 275/65R18 duratracs with 42 pounds of air pressure. 2 average size passenger with a few bags. Max tow package with 3.73 gears. Super crew.
The route was from the NY/Canada border down to D.C. And back. The majority of the trip was highway with 4-5 hours of D.C. Traffic in the middle for a combined total of roughly 1100 miles of driving. Elevation ranged from 100 feet above sea level up to around 2000 feet and temps ranged from 28F to 70F.
So I will post pictures of the results latter when I have more time but the truck adveraged around 19.5 MPG for the first half of the trip. And around 20.3 MPG on the return trip running slightly slower with the cruise set closer around 67 mph.
I think with a highway tire and bed cover the truck may have even gotten slightly better economy but over all I was impressed.

I drive my truck back and forth from fort Bragg NC to central NY a few times a year. Granted, I have a 3.5 ecoboost with a level and 33's, but I get around 17-18 mpg regardless. Next time you make that trip, I advise you to avoid DC traffic and take I-66W over to I-81N. Much faster and less of a headache 👍🏻 also more scenic 👌🏻

Unfortunately it was work that took me from Fort drum down to Arlington for two days so no way to avoid that D.C. traffic.
I really don't want to knock the eco boost at all but definitely enjoy the simplicity of a NA V8 especially since I find my self in mountains often.

I've got a stock 2013 FX4 5.0 SCREW, 3.73 with 20" rims & stock rubber that I bought in August with roughly 45K on the dial. Put almost 4500 miles on it since 'new' and have averaged 18 mpg throughout, which included a trip from Toronto to Myrtle Beach with the wife & kids & gear.
The 5.0 seems to be a pretty good choice - especially since i used to get 21 mpg with my Mazda 5 which was half the size of the truck and running a 2.0 four.

Mine is a 2014 Screw, 5.0, 4X4, 3.55 gears with a cap on it. Still has the factory Goodyear tires. I've gotten 19mpg on the interstate driving from Adairsville GA to Knoxville TN while running 75+. I made the same round trip about a month ago when I was in no hurry. I kept the speed 65 or less and used every trick in the book to maximize fuel mileage and got 21.3.
For typical every day driving which is a mix of small town and rural 2 lane I run 17ish. I ain't complaining, that is about the same as my 2007 4X4 Tacoma.

They take in a larger pool of people which gives a better representation of real world mileage. There's always guys on every vehicle related forum I've ever been on that appear to be getting better than average mileage.
