I also find these threads funny. All this argument just because a smaller displacement 6 cylinder engine has more power than a V8. Think about it for a minute. If the 3.5L Ecoboost had less power than the 5.0L then no one would bat an eye because it would be expected. If the Ecoboost was say a 5.7L with it's current power output then again, it would be expected since it has more displacement than the 5.0L. However, since it is a smaller engine with two less cylinders and more powerful then you have arguments like this because some people cannot handle the thought of a smaller engine being more powerful than their bigger one.

Think about something else. A 3.7L V6 Mustang of today would run circles around the old 1990s 5.0L and 4.6L V8s. Ask yourself why this is. What does it take to make power? What is one of the first mods you did to increase power in your car back then? The answer, move more air through the engine therefore allowing more fuel and more boom. Yes, it is that simple. Today's modern engines with their modern technology like Variable Valve Timing, twin cams, and multiple intake and exhaust valves move more air through them than the older engines. So why would it be a shocker that a small engine with a turbo that has the ability to move more air through it would be more powerful than a bigger engine that moves less air through it? Think about it in terms of how much air each engine moves through it than actual displacement or how many cylinders and it might help you grasp it better.

I will say that there are ***** hats on both sides of this argument, but those people are generally ***** hats as their personality. I remember the first few months when I got my Ecoboost. I heard it all from "You should have got a V8", "there is nothing like V8 power", or "this tiny little motor will have to spin to make those power numbers" just to name a few. All comments were not even warranted and were said just by me saying my brand new truck was a V6. It was like a knee jerk reaction from everyone that were too ignorant to know better. I even got the "this will never make the kind of torque found in a V8", and when I proved them wrong they found something else to say about it. Those type of shallow people cared more about what it was than what it can do.

The truth is with all this is that there is no perfect truck or engine for everyone. Everybody has different needs and different wants and all that anybody can state here is their own opinion. Sure you may get someone else to agree with you that "A truck must have a V8", but that still does not make it fact. It is still just your opinion that may or may not be shared by others.

Fact is the 5.0L is a V8 with a V8 sound and the Ecoboost is more powerful off the showroom floor and even more so with light mods. Those are facts that you cannot change. Trying to say the 5.0L is more powerful is just as much non sense as an Ecoboost owner trying to say his truck sounds like a V8. Just enjoy what you got for the reasons you bought it and don't try to outdo each other for the reasons you didn't buy the other engine.

The funny part about that is the 5.0 folks back then lost their minds in exactly the same way over the 4.6 even though it too was a V8. Because it wasn't the SAME V8 with the same cubic inches.

I had a '98 Mustang Cobra that I sold in 2012 with less than 60k on the clock. That car was immaculate and would run circles around the 94/95 Cobras with the 5.0 in them for exactly the same reasons. Newer better technology that produced more HP/TQ and more MPG with less cubes even while being NA.

So while I agree with you 110% about the technology improvements and your entire sentiment the underlying issue is much more than just smaller turbo engines vs their NA counterparts; it's just simply a bigger is "always" better mentality and if you question that you're just questioning their "manhood" which insecure people just can't take.

Its also a fact that the new 5.0 is one of Ford's most refined motors, with outstanding engineering behind it that is acknowledged by people across the industry, and it seems that the small minded EB diehards are the only ones who won't accept this reality, choosing to talk biased trash instead and resorting to the same old lame anti v8 rehtoric and cherrypicked stories of old v8's, since that's easier than actually doing some research.

There are also EB guys on this forum who act like their manhood is being questioned when they hear any criticism of the EB, no matter how logical and justified that criticism is. Closed minded Insecurity is not limited to the 5.0 guys.

What constitutes a "biased trash" talk? Does saying that the Ecoboost is powerful?

Yes, I just want to know what crosses the line. So does saying that the Ecoboost is more powerful constitute as talking "biased trash".
