I might be screwed...need advice
I bought my 2011 f150 in july. i bought it used from a dealership, and the people that own the dealership live next door to my parents. I bought this truck used with low miles. I got a nail in my passenger rear tire and it is right by the sidewall. So this can't be patched. Well then I find out the tires are the wrong size (which I knew). this is where it gets weird. the place i went to to have the tire fixed "can't mount a tire that is not the right size." The tires that are on the truck now are 225/75/r17 and the sticker in the door frame calls for 235/75/r17.....I would have gone to the dealer first but I live three hours away and it's harvest here and I am working a lot of hours. The place i took the truck to be fixed was Walmart...The only place in town that I could really go.
Now my question is what can be done about this or what should I expect to be done? If the dealer doesn't do anything than I have to buy 4 new tires to so walmart will mount them....I don't like that I would be paying for 4 new tires when I just bought the truck.

The dealer won't do anything unless you bought some sort of wheel/tire protection plan.
As for what you can do. Go somewhere else that sells tires. Walmart is full of crap! If you are a paying customer they should put whatever size tire you want on it. But those tires sound really small for a late model F150.

Take it to someone beside walmart. problem solved. They do this to, limit insurance liability and to keep their people from mounting sizes that will not work and pissing the customers off.

Put your spare on, talk to your neighbors and tell them the deal. Ask them if they can drop off your POS tire with the wheel next time they are at the dealership, and have them (dealership, not the neighbors) put a tire of that size on the wheel.
Worst case, you have to roll on your spare for a while. Piece of cake right.

The only tires I see in size 225/75R17 are load range E and rated for up to 2,775 pounds weight capacity @ 80 PSI.
Stock tires in size 235/75R17 are P-Series tires with weight rating up to 2005 pounds @ 44 PSI.
So your smaller tires have a lot more weight capacity than the bigger tires that are stock on that truck. It sounds like maybe the previous owner wanted LT tires in load range E, and those are not available in size 235/75R17. So he did a "suitable substitute".
The simple fix for your ruined tire is to remove the wheel/tire from the truck and take it to almost any mom&pop tire store that sells that brand. Ask them to simply replace the ruined tire with an identical new tire.
The big chain stores such as Wal-Mart and Discount Tire are lawyered up and usually won't mount a tire that is not the same size as the sticker on the doorframe. So don't even go there. And even for Mom&Pop Tire Company, don't take the truck - just the tire and wheel. If you buy the same size and brand that's already on the wheel, they probably won't have a second thought about selling you a tire and mounting it on the wheel and balancing it. If they do ask you what vehicle it came off of, tell them it's a utility trailer.
