I have one, it looks good and I have the detector hard wired with a mute button down next to my seat so I don't have to reach up to silence it everytime it goes off, nice clean installation

I like that too becasue i bet theres enough room to still put up a sun shade and not have to take the detector off every time.

I wish. I bought this after I had ordered a sun shade. I'm sure there is a way maybe, but I haven't figured it out yet. I love the blendmount though. I bought the wiretap as well, so it's on when I start truck.

I thought there might be enough room. What brand sunshade? I still ha my nice solid fold kind from my 05 150 and it kinda fits the 12...its actualy too big and was a tad small on the 05. Becasue of that its not flat in the middle and i might have more room so maybe it would work with mine. I like that it comes on and off with the truck and not always on like it is when you plug to the 12v dash plug.

I installed this. I ended up getting it for $200 from Best Buy. For some reason one of the local stores had it marked down to $199.99 while all of the other stores were selling it for $499.99. I walked in and asked for it, they didn't have it in stock so they let me pay for it there and pick it up at one of the other stores.

I should have bought more. I like it and it was easy to install in my truck. If anyone wants pics, I can post some up and assist in any installation. I hardwired it into the fuse panel in the passenger foot well.

I know this pic isn't the best but I have the BlendMount for my V1 and absolutely love it too:

+1 love my BlendMounts. I have one in my car and can move my RD back and forth easily. Its up out of the way and no more RD falling on my dash. Here is a pic with my Escort Solo S3 cordless.

Just ordered my blend mount from amazon a few days ago. Should arrive today or tomorrow. Looking forward to it, as I hate having things dangling in my truck. Got the hardwire kit ready to go!

blue302stang 05-17-2012 06:25 PM

I run a blendmount on every one of my vehicles and can't say enough good about them. They are a little pricey but definitely worth it

shawnw 05-17-2012 06:42 PM

I have one as well for my V1....worth every penny.

I am interested in this product as well but am looking for some more information from you guys who have them! I have an Escort 8500 X50 Black and my truck is a 2011 F150 FX4. The information I am looking for is how easy is it to get the power to the radar detector from the mirror. I wish I could see an installation instruction sheet from that website before I buy it. Thanks!

Could you possibly upload some pictures of your install? I am looking to see what you did with the mute button! Thanks.

I have one of these:

I have the older design. Its been in about 4 or 5 different vehicles over the years. I can post pics later if need be.

Any mounts for a whistler detector?

There is switched power up there. I have a remote display for my V1 so I routed the power cord thru the headliner, down the A pillar and under the dash. Power is tapped to switched power at the fuse box.

If u buy the wiretap, it will run to back of mirror. I did and love it. Short cord, easy, and hidden.

LaBalaDePlata 05-21-2012 02:04 PM

damn thats perfect for my 9500ix, but i do like my smartcord at the same time, but then again theres plenty of wire to hide it through the headliner and down the a pillar. hmm (challenge accepted)

MisterScott 05-21-2012 07:53 PM

I have a blendmount on my Challenger with a V1. Love it. Want to get one for the truck soon.

I just got the mirror tap cable, cut the prongs off and soldered it to the hot and neutral up inside the mirror harness.

I'll put you up a couple tomorrow when there is better light. Tried with my phone and a flashlight, not working so good.

I'm looking at the blend mount as well. I had 2 questions if any current users could answer; 1) How does the higher mounting level efffect signal reception, especially laser, since all the radar sites say the best place to mount is low--right above the dashboard (radar roy, etc). 2) How does this/can this work with the smart cord and the "escort LIVE" program to your phone that lets you see/report live LEO traps/sightings? Does the mirror tap eliminate any other hanging wires for smart cord or ESCORT LIVE which are necessary to run the program from your phone? Any advice, info, opinions welcome. Thanks

I get great reception w it mounted high. I don't know about laser, they don't use much of that in Oklahoma.
As far as cords, the wiretap will replace ur smart cord. Some people like the smart cord cause it has the mute button, personally, I don't mind reaching up and hitting mute on the radar. It's only like 9" long, so u don't even notice the cord. The escort live thing I have no actual experience w this.

I got the Inviscord equiv and had to just splice the wires in to the correct PINs because the darn prongs kept losing contact (and shutting off).

You can see the mirror tap cable from the detector in the first pic.

You can see the cable going up into the sleeve on the second.
I just sliced the sleeve back a little after I had found the hot and neutral
with a volt meter from the connector. On my 2012 the bottom right , I'll call pin 1, and then the black wire (neutral) which I'll call pin 4. If memory serves. That would be looking from the passenger seat after unplugging the harness. I just traced the wires up and sliced a small piece of the insulation off with a razor blade, then soldered the leads from the mirror tap cable which I had stripped back a tad. Then taped it up and tie wrapped it.

Laser will not work as well mounted up high. But it increases Radar detection.
I don't use escort live either.

I thought it was supposed to mount to the cylinder? Looks like that one is mounted at the joint.

You are correct sir. I did that to get the detector closer to the mirror.
I didn't like how low it hung when mounted to the cylinder. Had to fab
an inner ring so it would be tight.

I just installed the Rogue Mount for my Escort 8500 x50. Simple install. My only complaint is the hardwire connectors were a little flimsy. Glad I accidentally ordered two of the plug in cords. Followed the instructions in this thread. I'm pleased so far. Oh it was only $65 about $20 cheaper than the Blendmount. Unplugged the mirror and removed the yellow guard...plugged in the ground connection spade in pin slot 1/Black/Ground and the yellow wire spade/power in pin slot 2/Blue and White wire. Replugged the plug in the mirror plug slot and viola...see below.

Just installed mine in about 15 minutes ordered a mirror mount for my Cobra radar detector and tapped into switched power up above behind the lights, sunglasses, and window sunroof bezel. Amazed how easy it was. Tapped into black and yellow on left connector for ground and on right connector tapped into blue wire for switched power.
