If you bought an f150 to go fast you are doing it wrong.

Your dumb. I made my f150 fast so I can race other guys who have done the same with their trucks.
How boring would it be for me if nobody else had fast trucks?

PUT.com had the EB at a 17 hp and 75 ft-lb advantage.

These numbers are from 5 Star's website:

5.0 stock: 271 rwhp
5.0 w/93 octane tune: 291 rwhp

So, if the EB has a 20-30 rwhp advantage base case, and the tune picks up 20 rwhp on the 5.0, how could the tuned 5.0 possibly be "a lot faster than a stock ecoboost"?
Torque is the amount of work and engine can do, power is the rate at which you can apply torque.

Take a 4.2 for example. Makes 202 hp at the flywheel. The standard makes 181 rwhp, and the auto makes 164 rwhp. The auto will beat a standard any day of the week in a 1/4 mile drag because the gears are more evenly spaced on the auto, allowing more torque to be applied over a longer period of time as well as the fact that the auto shifts quicker than M5R2 without a shift kit (which Hurst hasn't made since 2006).

The seat of the pants measurements were more than likely saying that the 5.0 doesn't have turbo lag, and can accelerate with more force until the turbos on the 3.5 spool. Now spool the turbos before take off, it would probably be a different story.

Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

Who can launch an Eco after building boost and not spin tires like crazy? The 5.0 will get the jump again.

Um...me. You don't have to powerbrake all the way to 15 psi.

you have a point here. I had powerbraked my 05 on occassion when I hd to jump out and change lanes after finding myself in the "wrong spot" at a light.... It helped get me out there so I didnt hve to worry about trying to merge with a block of trafffic

But I tried this once with nmy EB and at a VERY low rpm the tires spun. I actually looked around to see who was doing that until my wife asked me what the hell I was doing and if I was 16... If I was 16 - would have been cool but being in my 40s with wife and 3 kids in truck - just embarassing.

BUT when the rturbos spool at a VERY low rpm, Id catch you. But I dont drive the truck that way - bought it for towing, hauling and 4x4... this is just a bonus.

But your points explain the OPs post - the 5.0 absolutely can feel much faster, especially w/ a tune.

Yup....I bought by rig to play in the sand and dirt while doing it a a high rate of speed but I also actually use it to haul stuff... The mulch guys cringe when I tell them to drop a bucket load of mulch in the back. It tell them it's a pick up truck... not hating...JUST SAYING
