I bought my truck truck because......

I had 80K miles on my 08 GMC Sierra and the truck kept falling apart. The engine and transmission were strong but the truck was falling apart around the drive-train. I had to file at least two complaints with GM's corporate office to get numerous items repaired. The final straw was the speakers went out and the factory chrome wheels where corroding and flaking causing the tires to lose air. Ford had great rebates and deals running on the 2012 FX4 and gave me a great price for my trade in so it was an easy decision. I got the truck exactly the way I wanted it with all the options I wanted except for a sun roof, but that is no big deal. I grew up on only GM vehicles but I love my new F150 and haven't looked back.

I had an 07 mustang GT, but found my self carrying things way to often that should never be in the trunk of such a nice car (like scrap steel, used brake rotors, greasy used axle shafts, etc) I had a thick rubber mat cut to fit the trunk of the stang for protection, but I knew what I was doing was only going to trash the car over time. my 96 S10 was falling apart (206k) to the point I was starting to question its ability to do what I needed on a regular basis. I find myself hauling 1000+ lbs of steel to the scrap yard every few weeks and it really put a hurting on that ole truck evrry time I did it.
I wanted to be able to haul/stuff reliably but keep the power and sound of my mustang. decided a 2wd RCSB 5.0 would be the closest I could get to a mustang with a bed.
now I can throw 1500lbs in the bed and it barely knows its back there.

I bought mine because the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 dmax I was driving was impractical, got 12-15mpg, diesel is expensive, I don't tow anything that heavy and it rode like crap. I tow around a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited on a 20' car hauler. Probably sub 9klbs but might be pushing closer to 10k with tools, gas and loaded cab. The EcoBoost does great!

Have had Rams and Dakotas in the past. Was driving a Mazda 3 sedan for the last couple of years and kept running into situations were I could have really benefited from having a pick-up. Always wanted an F150, but thought they were too expensive, which is why I bought a couple of Dodge Rams instead. This time, my local Ford dealer gave me a screamin' deal on a '12 XLT SCREW and I couldn't resist. Love my F150 so far. Wish I would have just spent the money in the past.

Here's one you will not hear often... Because my wife made me! In all seriousness, I am a Ford guy (previously owned a couple Superduty diesels), but spent the last five years driving a Toyota Tacoma.
My last Superduty was one of those wonderful '03 6.0 powerstrokes that ate a couple turbos, a transmission and a few injectors... I dumped it a couple months before the 5 year engine warranty ended. At that point, I was finished with my home renovations and no longer needed the hauling capacity of my F350 long bed... I wanted something considerably smaller... just big enough to handle my family of four and allow me to haul a bit and tow a small trailer. Unfortunately the Ford Ranger wasn't even close, so I broke my 12 year run of Fords and went Toyota. Did I mention this was right before the oil companies decided to make diesel fuel more expensive than premium unleaded (my timing could not have been better for that switch).
A couple years ago, God apparently decided our family wasn't yet complete and sent us another young'in (Yes, I know what causes that). Well, that Tacoma started getting mighty cramped with three in the back (that makes 5 of us... for the non-mathmatically inclined), particularly on long trips to the snow and camping. For the past year, my lovely wife has been bugging me about getting a bigger truck. I'm old enough now that I really didn't want to take the $$ hit that comes with in selling the old and buying the new. But after our last camping trip this summer... I knew the end was near, gave up and bit the bullet.
I didn't consider anything other than going back to Ford. The only serious question that remained was which engine! This is my first vehicle that I purchased loaded... no more adding several $k of electronics to the interior. As soon as I get my Weathertech's in, I'll be good to go.
I am glad to be back with Ford, with my great big trailer tow mirrors... who gives a crap about looks... I can see!.

I had over 300000 miles on my 97 Ranger and the A/C was gone so I bite the bullet and went to my local Ford dealer on a Sunday when I thought no one would be there, well they were open and as soon as I saw that blue over silver two tone paint I was sold. That was in 09 and it's still runs great.

Traded in my 2005 Lariat screw with 199K miles, still running great but started to get the infamous cab corner rot. Other than the bubbles starting to appear on the cab corners, it only had 1 small ding in the tailgate where I accidentally lowered it with the jack rod cover sitting on the bumper (oops). This was a great truck and I bought it with every option available. I performed all the mechanical upkeep and repairs myself over the years except for replacing the trans which died at 70K. Rebuilt trans was better than factory.
In Oct 2017, I replaced it with a new 2018 King Ranch 3.5 EB with 6.5 foot bed and again with every option/upgrade available. Love it. I hope I get the same longevity from this truck.

I bought my truck because I needed one to finish lots of projects at my cottage and I ran out of favors borrowing every truck I could get my hands on !
Mabe 10 years ago I had a cool little ranger , 4 cyl, 5sp, rubber floor, step side ... 2wd.. lovely little truck easy on gas but it was stuck in mud, snow etc all the time. Miss that truck but not getting stuck is better... I replace it with a 2004 Jeep Sahara TJ... lots of fun but no room to carry stuff...
got my xl f150 3.7 4x4 with some cool options for a smoking deal... it was smoked in... it was low miles, ok options, full warranty, cap, new tires... the only kicker was the smoke smell... pretty much cleared up now.. took 1.5 years of everything the internet suggested to clean it out.
Got the truck cuz I needed one.... and she let me keep my Jeep too 👍
