Default HP gains with doing a cam swap

Hey guys,
I recently picked up a new set of mustang intake cams. I've read the ones on the trucks are crap. In was wondering what kind of gains or performance I can get from out that alone. I am planning on changing the intake to a boss intake when I find one. And also pick up a tuner aswell (although not sure what one is beat)

Start with the tuner. Then see if you want to spend lots more $$$ for slightly more performance. With all the stuff in your sig, I'm surprised you don't already have one.

I know. I've wanted one for a while but up here in Canada they are expensive and the dollar isn't all that great to order one from the USA

I've seen dyno's showing about 30-35 hp from swapping to GT intake cams. I have some in my garage to eventually install.

That's an impressive gain. In sure with a tuner it'll be a while different animal when I'm done

I'm glad you let us know that the stock cams are crap

My tuned truck is getting 15mpg around town with snow tires on it -

20 mpg on the highway at 70 mph -

can pull a 20' trailer with a skid steer on it -

and will go upwards of 130 mph uphill or downhill with a 5* 87 octane tow/performance tune.

Other than trading torque for unusable high rpm horsepower, what are you getting that's worth spending $2k for, with the intake setup, cams, etc?

The GT cams really don't sacrifice torque from all of the dyno sheets I've seen. The boss intake yes, the cams not necessarily. Maybe he means they're crap in terms of producing as much hp as this engine is capable of. You can get GT intake cams for just over $200

From the videos I've watched the threads and websites I've read, the cams don't sacrifice a lot of the lower end torque. You gain hp yes and for only a couple hundred dollars it's a good place to start the the $500 - 600 a tuner will cost me up here. The intake yes isn't the greatest and does Rob a lot of the bottom end torque which I may not end up doing. Cams and tuner is where I'll start. I've towed a trailer with a race car and gear with a friend's truck where he swapped the cams and it was far better then towing the same thing with my truck with it stock

If towing is your goal consider gears and tune. That will help more than cams and tune.

I won't be towing as much. If anything it's a small 4x8 utility trailer. My enclosed I sold when I got rid off all my racing stuff.
