Howling in reverse
Hi guys,
I have a 2013 FX4 5.0 that has started to emit a "howling" noise from the rear when in reverse. It isnt a clicking when shifting into reverse as Ive seen in another thread, but a quick howl then it generally goes away, although it may happen again during the same backup. Truck has 27k on it. Thoughts?

Does it start when the truck begins moving backward, or does it happen as soon as you engage reverse?
Mine "howls" from time to time when i reverse after letting the truck sit for a few days and i am 99% sure it is from the brakes/rotors that i want to replace soon.

Then i am 99% sure that it is your brakes rubbing that is causing the problem. What is causing the brakes to rub could be any number of things, maybe just bleeding and greasing the calipers could resolve the issue.

Following up on any further thoughts on this issue. I had the rotors turned not long ago so I would imagine they checked the rest of the braking system as well. Noise is still there albeit intermittently. Could it be a suspension issue?
