Default How to utilize your "USB2" port

Here is my write up on how to use your USB2 port that some do not even know exist!

The best part of this "hidden" modification is that you can easily hide your music storage device in the glove box and it will be hidden from all those wandering eyes out there looking for an easy grab.

Things needed.
An extra Mini USB to USB cord
A Female USB to Female USB adapter
Whatever music storage device you use

First you will want to take off the rubber piece that in on the center part of the dash. After you get the rubber piece out you will want to remove the 2 screws holding it in.
It will then reveal the back of the sync/radio.

At this time you will want to unhinge the glove box so you can run the cord to the glove box.

Now take your Mini USB part of cord and plug it into the the grey port that is there. *Note: the bigger part of the plug goes up, I know it is hard to see back there so you may not be able to see it*

Now run the cable down the right side of the radio and stick your hand up the glove box and reach for that cable and pull it through there and into the glove box.

Once you do that go ahead and put the glove box up the way it should.

Plug in your Female USB to Female USB adapter and your media device cord/device.
Start your truck and it should default to the USB2 port.

I hope this helps.

Ahhh, well I had looked all over for one and never found one. Either way, pretty simple mod.

Great write up with pics but it has been around. I did this 4 years ago.

I do believe yours is one of the best and by you doing it again brings it fresh for other members that may not be aware.

Wasn't aware. I use my phone which I take with me or a basic USB flash drive which is already easily hidden in the "sync" compartment. But have a free THANKS from me for a simple and easy to read guide anyway.

Sorry for the hijack.. But could you install a lock pick through the tray opening once it's removed?
