How many miles test driving before shipping to dealer?

I assume that they say that as a "just in case" scenario. Just so the consumer isnt furious thinking they got an off the lot truck that had been test driven by other people as opposed to their special order truck. For example, if they (Ford) test drive it and find out some things are not up to snuff and they need to fix and further test. I could see the potential for 20-100 miles to be racked up if, in the testing process, they find an abnormality that needs to be corrected before delivery. Thats my take on it at least.
Don't stress over it and enjoy it when it arrives.

i work at the nissan plant here in smyrna tn and when we want overtime on the weekends and such we have ppl directly hired to drive the cars to different lots of the plant for different deliveries and such. also if the vehicle needs to go back to the plant before it leave the factory for some reason to have something installed etc these people drive it or they take it to the test tracks. also we have random audits they pick out of the vehicles in each lots so these people go get the and bring them and have them look over and audited etc .. so this is what ford is talking about .. fyi so someetime by the time a unit / vehicle leave the factory it may have 50 or some miles on it just by driving around to different places at the plant getting different things checked or moving to different lots ..

When I worked for a Ford dealer we had a Ranger come in off the truck with a sticker on the window saying something about the vehicle being selected for extended testing. It had 356 miles on it. It was for dealer stock and is the only time I saw it in 4 years. Usually would see no more than 10-15 miles at delivery after PDI.

Mine was greater than 2 and less than 3 miles.
Usually there will be the window sticker on the truck if it was chosen for quality control inspection. 500 miles seems like a lot for a special order truck, unless the dealer found it at another deal and did a swap.
Unfortunately, I am not versed too well in stateside car buying procedures, so I could be way off base about the dealer swap.

I got the same sticker on my 2012, i was peeved but it was special order so i didn't want to decline it and wait. my mpg total over 6,000 miles has been 11.8 total so I don't think they were testing too well in my case
