How many miles from a set of brake pads?
Currently my truck is at the dealership for a bunch of things. One of them is the brakes were shaking. Now they're telling me that my front pads are done and I need a new set.
I have 29,000 miles on my '13 Eco, and I do 90% highway driving (2x50 miles daily commute). It seems crazy to me that the pads would wear out so soon.
Does anyone have any experience?

Just depends on braking conditions or even other conditions. My brakes just started squeaking / shuddering at 30,000 miles. I'm thinking I need to start thinking about pads as well. So, I guess I can see you needing new pads soon. They probably aren't as worn as they claim though. Go down and look for yourself if you are unsure of their honesty.

I used to live on LI years ago, and 50 miles "highway" driving there is nothing like the rest of the country (military--been all over this country). I used to work only about 25 miles away from my home there and sometimes it would take me well over an hour to get to the office on the LI "highways". Living out there, you definitely do more braking than you know.
For what it's worth, I changed mine around the 45K mark.

My 2011, XLT, 5.0, 145", 2wd had a hair over 32k miles when I traded it for my EcoScrew.
Had 400-600 lbs in the box daily or more since new. It was a "work truck" drove hard and put away wet nearly every time.
Stock brakes were still in excellent shape and original, at the end of my usage. Zero shakes or shimmies when braking despite hard use.
I also read somewhere, can't remember where, but '09-'11 trucks have smaller rotors or calipers. So in theory, a 2012+ should last longer.

Op you are going to get answers all over on this. I did my front brakes at 22k miles, and rears at 47k miles. All because the passenger front caliper hung up, and drivers rear hung up too. 1 pad on the fronts and rears were down to the metal. All other pads had tons of meat left.
Also go down and look at the pads. Don't take their word for it.

I believe that was for 09. I know that was the big change between the 09 and 10 model years.

I don't know if that's because my new truck is a "Max Tow" or not, but there was a change to the brakes going from '11-'12 I'm positive of.
If someone with a 2009-2011 snaps a pic of there rear calipers from the back of the truck, I will post a pic of my 2013's to prove it.

I do know for a fact, the rear caliper design on my '13 FX4, EcoScrew looks different and larger than my 2011 XLT's rear calipers.
