He's comparing it to a Raptor and an XLT with an ecoboost (assumed based on the mpgs he stated). Compared to both of those, the jeep is severely lacking in the power department.

That being said, jeeps are a blast off roading. I've been down the same trails in a wrangler and a raptor, and even though the raptor is severely badass, the jeep just made you feel more "off-road" when you were driving it lol. Kills me to say that, but the truth is the truth lol.

Good luck to the OP with whatever you end up with!

Thanks. And on top of that, The power issue isn't a big deal to me. I have the 5.0l F150 for when i want power.

I guess I rambled off the original topic a little bit lol
The jeep is an '09, and has the old minivan engine in it (3.8) and the XLT has the 3.7. The new Penstars have a lot more power, but they're still about as aerodynamic as a brick house. Lol If offroad is all you want, jeep all the way.
You can also get a two door (roll up windows, soft top, stick shift) for about 22, whereas a single cab 4x4 is around 25ish.

My other option was a Jeep Wrangler which i know will be better but... meh... i'd rather go ford. Anyway, how will the RCSB do? Would it be comparable to a Wrangler with a 2" and 33's?
Thanks guys...
If you can get ahold of Kytann he was in the same boat around this time last year and he ended up with the RCSB 5.0 f150. His truck looks awesome and I'm assuming hes had it offroading now. Plus the f150 is just as customizable as the jeep and a lot more fun/attractive. Also throw a sportsman 800 in the bed for even more fun, lets see a jeep do that!

I'm not concerned one bit about practicality/hauling etc. I have a 2012 screw for that. The more i look into it the more i realize an F150 is just useless on trails. Much too heavy and wide.

The best thing about having a jeep for offroad is that they are the most customizable off road vehicle out there and a never ending project because it can always be improved or upgraded. Parts are never hard to come by either.

I specifically sought out a 2.5L inline 4 for my jeep. It is an extremely light motor which helps with the already nose heavy vehicle. My jeep loaded down going to the trail is just about 3000 lbs. that's with heavy tires, tools, parts, and a full tank of fuel. It sucks down the highway and sucks even more in the wind, but it will still do 65 most places with 800 lbs of human lard in it plus gear. Around town it is great and on the trail it does great with about a 80:1 crawl ratio. The raptor will whoop my *** in the wide open, but wait until we get to the rocks and climbs. Eventually I would like about a 120:1 ratio with the same motor.

Customizable??? Anything is possible for the price. The jeep is a much better platform to start with for an offroad rig. The solid front axle is done. What's the cost to do a solid front axle swap on a newer f150? Not to mention the electronic steering and ifs won't handle the same abuse or have nearly the same amount of articulation as a solid axle. For a trail rig, not fire roads or sand, but tight and technical trail with lots of rock, mud, and hill climbs, I could build a jeep that will do twice what the raptor will for half the price.

The rubicon is 2.5 hours away from me. I have never seen a f150 in there. I'm sure it's been done, but it was no off the shelf kit on 35"s.

Oh, and looks and fun are subjective. I think jeeps are much more fun than my 2012 fx4 supercrew. If I pull my jeep out and drive it on a nice day, there is nothing like driving around with a safari top and no doors. The jeep community is extremely friendly. I can hardly drive mine anywhere without a fellow jeeper starting a conversation.
