I'm claiming that any additive is a waste of money and does nothing but lighten the wallet.

Really? And this is based on what research beyond "you just think so"?
There are many additives that have demonstrably proveable effects...just do a little resesrch.
The typical anecdotal statement that "I haven't used any additive in over XXX,000 miles of driving and have zero problems" means nothing to anyone except you and your particular vehicle.

My 71 Mustang has 350,000 miles on it and it has never had a major breakdown.
My 2012 F150 has 100,000+ on it, with no major issues.

Many 71 Mustangs went to the crusher with less than 70,000 miles on them due to breakdowns...
This Forum has many examples of newer, low-mileage F150s with severe mechanical breakdowns.

So...what does that tell us?

Are all Fords tough, well-designed long-lasting vehicles, or are all Fords undependable junk?

Anecdotal evidence means NOTHING.

Ah, this thread reminds me of the good ol' days when I'd keep a bottle of seafoam in my 03 just to compete with the rednecks rolling coal with their diesels in the parking lot.

Yeah guess I should've just asked how to put fuel into the tank in case I run out and never mentioned anything about additives. You guys are a trip.

A trip is putting it lightly. I prefer to be labeled as a "panty ruffler". Some guys make it too easy on here

Thumbs up

MT-Ford - Another reason to have a separate 09-10 section.
Naw ... It's all good. People just need to provide vehicle information in their sig' | post for completeness. As was pointed-out (and what I originally glimmered), DI was available until 2011 (in select engines) which wasn't noticed by some.

Lest we segregate TOO much. e.g. by cabin, wheel base, trim level, etc..

I'm genially impressed that you didn't offer that this should be in the engines sub-section!
You need to go back to policing the General section and making more useless posts there.
Come on Dave. You're better than that. Attack/disagree w/ another member's premise/statement if you think you gotta case. Don't attack or insult the member.

Joe, I apologize, I crossed the line there.
Had a bad day at work and took it out here.
I need to check my emotions at the key board.

Take 2 identical port injection engines with 150k on them, one that ran a PEA-based additive every 5k for the life of the engine, and the other that never did. Take both engines apart, compare, and weep.

While I believe that some additives are good to use, I have to take a different stance on your statement. I've seen two "identically built" engines that have different problems. There's no way to get everything identical. Waaaaay too many variables.

That being said, I understand what you are saying. Certain additives will lengthen the life of an engine vs that same engine that had no treatment at all. And I agree, but you cannot compare 2 engines that are "identical" because they aren't. There'll always be some difference, however minor.
