Default How far off is your mpg gauge?

Every time I manually check my gas mileage, I am actually about 0.5 mpg lower that what the computer says. (if the computer says 18 mpg, my math tells me 17.5)

Just wondering if everyone else has about the same error.

Mine is about the same. Sometimes as much as .8. I had one tank that was higher by hand vs computer. Seems related to amount of idling done and heavy acceleration. Both seem to make the computer less accurate.

Interesting observation. You might be on to something. I went on a 350 mile road trip, and the computer was exactly accurate (20.4 mpg for both). But normal driving, mix of hwy/city/traffic, it's off about .5 mpg.

Mine also is off by .5 MPG with my normal driving mixed city, highway I usually am showing 17.3 MPG and when I calculate it it is about 16.8 MPG.

Bahahahaha! You don't even want to see mine! I wish mine only showed .5 positive.

Mine is about the same. Gallons used is anywhere from .3 to .5 gallons less than the pump. I use the same pump every fill up too.

I was .8 off today when I filled up. It is pretty darn close on a highway trip but run around town...starts to lose accuracy

I took trip to lake this summer 350 miles and all county road driving could only set cruise on 60 and I got 21 MPG best by far I had never gotten over 18 for the tank full but this time my read out was exactly right.
