I basically did the same deal last month. I found a 13 FX4 loaded out with everything including the rear step bumper. They threw in the all weather mats and a spray in bedliner. OTD price was 41500 +TTL - my trade.

With rebates ($9250) and negotiation, mine went from $48xxx to 34xxx. I basically said I will buy the one on the lot but don't want to pay for the accessories (mats, Ruby Red paint, 20" chrome wheels, etc.). Aaaaaand I wanted more off as well LOL. They are probably pushing 14s out to get ready for 15s.

Just something to think about to the OP. I just had a friend in the DFW area looking for a new truck and he couldn't get squat off MSRP in the DFW area. We found two identical trucks, both FX4, same color same options etc etc and at the dealer here in Austin the truck was almost 8k cheaper. I don't know what it is about the dealers in DFW, they don't offer the same discounts that some others seem to.

I was able to get almost 12k off my 13 Platinum in August of last year with no negotiating at all. That's what they offered from the get go. Look at some areas outside of DFW.

I just ordered a Fx4 lux package with max tow EB, msrp was right at $50k I made the deal for $42,800. Not as good as other, but this was the best I could do. I could have got a little better deal buying off the lot, but not exactly what I wanted.

I just picked up a 2014 FX4 loaded and got over 7k off the sticker of 52k. I built the truck using the true car price page from consumer reports and all participating dealerships have to honor that price.

With that being said you can still get good deals through discounts if you ask. For example I got $500.00 for having a current non-ford lease (didn’t have to turn it in, just for having one). It also depends on what Ford is doing incentive wise at the time. This is a good time to buy. I was shopping for a good deal on a 13 and ended up with a great deal on a 14.

Good luck.

btw, the more valuable the truck is the more likely you are to reach $10k off or more. I doubt anyone will get $10k off a regular cab XL and end up paying $13k for it.
If one buys a regular cab XL and "only" gets $6k off the sticker, it's not like that's a "bad" deal. That is still a very good markdown for that truck

A lot of it also depends on the dealership.
I was in contact with 4 or 5 other dealerships when I bought my fully loaded '13 FX4. I let each dealership know this, and used it to bargain my price with whoever was willing to give up the best deal.

There was one dealership in Toronto that does a lot of high volume with the F150's, but they wouldnt budge on the price. They tried to play hard with giving me a low trade in value, and pushing that they couldnt offer any more. Granted, this was a dealership that goes through a lot of sales on these vehicles, so they know their numbers and what they can and will sell the vehicle for....do they necessarily need my business? Not really, especially when Im trying to get a lower price on the truck and they probably know they can sell it for close to sticker in their market anyways. So I gladly declined their offer and searched around some more.

Another dealership I found had an almost fully loaded (minus about 3 items) 2014 FX4 in white that they were giving a great deal on (still 10k off sticker which I thought was insane for a new 2014...I figured it was only the 13' that were still getting the high discount to get rid of them). They offered me a huge trade in value but were a bit tight on the actual vehicle price (it was about $1,500 higher than the dealership I actually bought my 2013 from). If it werent for those 3 items it was missing, and the $1500 difference I probably would of bought from them.

The dealership I ended up buying from was insanely friendly...I never felt pushed into the sale or that there were any sleazy deals going on...They genuinely were interested in unloading this truck and were very interested in my trade-in. I mentioned the previous dealership and their offer for my trade in and they used the same trade in price. I never felt like they were hard on the price at all...in fact they were so easy with everything I feel like I should have pushed for a lower price! But I'm still very happy with what I got.

I bought from them because the truck had every single option other than the tailgate step (which I didnt want, and was having a hard time finding an appearance package 5.0l V8 without that damn step). And they matched/beat the price of any other dealership without making me feel like I was pulling their teeth out. I don't think I could have gotten $14k off MSRP deal anywhere else, so I knew I had the best deal I was going to get.

Some dealerships are willing to negotiate more than others. When theres a pile of 2013s sitting on the lot untouched and new 2014s rolling in, it's time to drop the price to get the sale.

The key is to never be in a rush to buy. I had the idea in my head and was searching around for 6+ months before I actually pulled the trigger. I was worried in September when the employee pricing was coming to an end...and I figured I had missed the big sale of the year. I was convinced I would have to wait until next September to buy the truck at a good price...and I would have waited too.
But I kept my eye out and kept looking...and the deals were still there. So don't ever feel rushed by the idea that one particular sale/discount is ending...it will be replaced by another. Just give it time.

Brilliant insight!
