I can lock and unlock the doors all day long from my office 100 feet away from where my truck is parked but I have to be within 30 feet of it for the remote start to work. A waste of $385 and two hours of my time for Ford to install it..

My truck was doing this also instead of starting the horn would honk, after my wife used my truck. Found out she must hit the hood latch, because the hood was opened. Luckily there is a second latch.

It does not start with the hood open, so if it detects the hood is popped for some reason it wont start and it will honk.

maybe you can put a longer antenna on it? I think the antenna is like 10 feet or something on the ones with distance

I agree with you all - shouldn't have to really spend more money to get a decent consistent range for remote start. Here is another thread recently - seems to have helped all that do it, it is just an extension cable that lets you move the antenna from under the dash to up under the headliner.

Personally I missed the smart phone remote start like Onstar, so if you are looking at upgrading to the 200 series and extra fob, I say just go all the way to "Remote Access". Yep it is more costly and it has an annual fee of $50 but if that is what it takes for me to be very happy with a $45K truck then I'll spend it and move on.

I had a dead battery from extreme cold and not using my truck for 3 days. After boosting the truck and charging my battery my remote start app(cell phone or PC) will not start my truck and it honks once and I get a reply that the start attempt was not successful and try again in awhile. Repeated attempts have the same result. Key fob attempts also result in a honk. I have to key-start my truck. But, the next start with the key fob is successful. I haven't tried a cell phone start while I've been out.
