These measuring sessions are for accessories that would fit on the truck...not body panels and hard parts.

I know I'm in for it here...but seeing as how the OP's question was answered, despite all of your ramblings...

I have to ask, what is your proof of this? Do you work at Ford? Do you have links? Anything other than your word?

I've worked in the body shop industry for 15 years now. And i know the opposite to be true. In fact I've seen aftermarket body panels available before OEM ones.

And if they change the tooling on panels as you say, then how come many people on this forum use parts from earlier/later years on their trucks? Like my '10 has '11 mirrors. If what you say is true, wouldn't my mirrors not fit? Wouldn't they have changed the tooling, so they could keep ahead of aftermarket mirrors?

Can you prove that you have worked in the body shop business?...or is it just your word?

Really? That's how you are going about this? Haha! Ok that tells me that you can't prove anything. Otherwise you would have simply answered with a legit answer.

I used to work in a stamping plant that was a tier one Ford supplier. Even minor changes to parts is a major undertaking. Tooling needs to be changed or completely redesigned, new gauges and check fixtures need made and considerable testing done. The idea that auto manufacturers change parts just to stop the aftermarket is just plain hilarious. The cost to change the parts would be far greater than the money lost to aftermarket manufacturers.
