HomeLink?

I did this mod the other night on my '10 FX4. It me took a couple of hours. One of the most difficult parts for me was pulling the cover plate off of the homeline module. Also after removing the visor I have to pull out about 6 inches of wire from the headliner to get to the plug to unplug the visor. I followed the how to in the link to the escape forum, it is pretty much 99% the same. I did not need to splice into the vanity light wires though. There was enough extra wire that I was able to fish them up to the homelink plug and slide them in the connector. Works great. Thanks ... for the info.

I am going to order the Homelink visor from Tasca, does anyone know if the power plug is already there for the Homelink visor?
I don't have the lighted mirrors and I was hoping this would be as easy as removing the old visor and installing and plugging in the new one

If your harness doesn't have plugs, It doesn't look very difficult to run your own wires out of the visor and just tap into your overhead lights for power.
I'm swapping my overhead harness for the one needed to add the backup camera and won't have a use for the old harness (with mirror plugs) if you want to go that route(for a supercrew).

Does anyone know if the homelink module can be programmed to work with any type of opening device. I have a mighty mule automatic gate opener, and I'm wandering if it is possible to program it to that.

I'm interested in doing this. I recently replaced my headliner harness for rear camera installation and it has the visor plugs. I don't have lights on the visor. Anyone purchase new visors with lights? How much?

Just got the visors from tasca. 58.15 for the left and 47.65 for the right. Got the homelink on ebay for 9.99. You are right about tasca having the homelink built in for over 200 bucks. Yikes! Plan on selling my visor on ebay to recoop some of the costs. Or maybe keeping them, not sure.

So if you don't have a lighted mirror there is definitely no wiring for the homelink module?
If so someone mentioned tapping into the overhead light for power. Could someone explain this a little bit more from a "how does one get a wire across the roof standpoint"?
Thanks
Mitch

You have to drop down the headliner to find wires to tap into with a volt meter. Instructions on how to do this are in the rearview camera post.
