Gotta love TX though No state income tax, 28 bucks for inspection, and 50-60 bucks for registration no matter the age/value
Plus if you are military (active or not) you get upgraded plates free.

This is about what mine is here in Florida. I have a collegiate plate so I think it's a few bucks extra as well. Think mine was right at $89.xx for a year.

Truck is 80, but 25 of that is for "special" plates. I have FFA plates on the truck. It has been the same amount for last eight years.
Motorcycle is 34 for the whole year.

I paid 5% in taxes at purchase plus personal property taxes on the vehicle I have on July 1st. It's 3% of the value every year on top of the $35 plate sticker and $12 window sticker.

53k truck, you do the math.

And yes that's the first year.
Yep. Paid $850 in 2011 when new (MSRP $44,475). $650 the second year.

Why are you excited? You will still have to get inspected every year. The difference is the inspection will be do within 90 days of renewing you registration sticker. You will pay the "stations portion" of the inspection fee to the inspection station. In non emissions counties that is $7.00 and in emissions counties it is $18.50 for TSI/OBD and $22.50 for ASM/OBD. Getting the inspection will update your vehicle record at TXDMV electronically. You can then get your registration sticker. The "state portion" of the inspection fee will be paid to the county tax office. That fee is $7.50 for non emissions counties and $10.50 for TSI/OBD counties and $14.25 for ASM/OBD counties. You will only display one sticker instead of two. In the end, you will pay the same as you do now.

TSI/OBD counties are: Travis, Williamson and El Paso.
ASM/OBD counties are: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Johnson, Parker, Rockwall and Tarrant.

Meh, ours is 2.5% the first year, 1.85% the second year. At 5 years old, you're down to 0.5% and it never goes below that. All based on MSRP (because people would get paperwork saying they paid $1 otherwise).

Plus we also get to pay a 5% sales tax at the time of purchase (if not paid at the time of purchase it has to be paid at the time of registration), luckily this is only based on the sale price and not MSRP.

You guys don't know what you're missing. Here in Oklahoma there is no inspections, emission certificate requirement and I pay $7 for my tag sticker every year.
