Holy **** first tank of premium

Has anyone tried using 87 octane gas with an 87 octane tune and running 91 octane gas with a 91 octane tune? I think thats the only time you'd actually see a significant difference. As with using a dyno, slight differences in driving conditions will be compounded even more when driving hundreds of miles while calculating mileage.

I am using the (up to) 10% ethanol gas from Sam's Club. First 3 tanks of 87 octane were 17.8, 17.2, 17.7. Filled it up with premium and it's staying at 19.2. Premium is giving me more MPG for sure. Only problem is, when they say 'up to' 10% ethanol, it's anyone's guess on how much is in there. The premium I'm using may have less ethanol.

So after reading all 27 pages of this and roughly 260 comments I think I am going to stick with what I have been doing since I first started pumping gas... Buying what works for me (whatever that may be since there is no way I am adding fuel to this fire, pun intended.)

I have to admit...premium actually did give me noticeably more power. I'll probably run it from now on. Took about a full tank for me to notice, but once the adaptive ignition timing corrected for the octane rating, I definitely noticed it. The only way I can describe it is the pickup just feels "lighter" on take off and acceleration.

regardless of what you call it premium is better for your vehicle anyways. the fuel is more pure with less additives and fillers. if he wants to pay more let him do it. When your truck craps out at 200,000miles and his goes for 250,000 you wont be saying anything. just saying, dont get offended when somebody else calls your post (bogus)
