Lucky for you I am a Mechanical Engineer, and also lucky for you, everyone has given you the answer for the hole in the muffler. That's why you shouldn't be messing with something that you don't know what it is. It's there for a reason; leave it alone.

So moisture cant sit in the bottom of the muffler and rot it out over time.

Guys...He is a welding engineer. Let him weld the hole closed...it is his truck. I say go for it man. I mean really what is the worst that could possibly happen? So your muffler rusts out in like 28 years? I mean what an aftermarket muffler costs like what? $300? Screw these guys, break out that welder and go to town dude!

If you seal up the weep hole in the muffler you just modified your exhaust and voided your warranty?
