Default Hill Descent/advance Trac Error

Hi everyone. New member here. I have a 2013 F150 screw ecoboost with 26,xxx miles on it. I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I had this problem happen a few weeks ago. Then it happened again today. Same thing; Message center says "Hill Descent Control" error and "Service Advance Trac". I also noticed that the directional signals stopped working, but lane change option still worked. After stopping the truck and re-starting it the problem cleared both times. Wondering if the OP's problem is still good since the steering rack replacement. Also any input from others would be appreciated. Thanks, Al

Hey all. Just wanted to update my post. Took my truck in to the dealer about 3 weeks ago. They knew exactly what I was talking about when I told them what was happening. The service writer called me 2 days later and said it was done. They replaced the steering rack and gave me an alignment. So far, 3 weeks later and no issues. So, if anyone else is having this issue hope this helps.

Mine was done under warranty. 2 days in and out. And the only reason it took 2 days is Ford won't let them order the new rack until they scan the old one. Apparently it generates its own replacement confirmation number and the dealer can't order a replacement without that number. They scanned and ordered the new rack on the 1st day and had it done by the end of day 2.

Default Hill Descent Control/AdvanceTrac/Brake Faults

I have a 2013 F150 XLT 4x4 Super Crew with 66,000 miles with a similar issue. Every time I start the truck, I get the 3 listed fault warnings. I haven't noticed any problems with my turn signals though. Another (probably unrelated) issue I just started having is the electric engine cooling fan comes on sometimes when the engine doesn't seem hot enough for it and the fan is really loud when it's running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I replaced the right front wheel hub assembly and it corrected all of my fault warning lights.

If you have A/C on the fans will be on. The other issue is likely your steering rack.

The fault warnings were caused by my right front wheel hub. The bearings went out in it. I replaced the hub assembly and the fault lights went away and have not come back.

I have a 2013 F150 FX4 with 36,000 miles and just experienced the Hill Descent / Advance Track fault issue. I Googled it and seems like a fairly common problem with these trucks. The end result is the whole steering rack needs to be replaced for nearly $2,000 !!! I found a lot of people with the same problem on CarComplaints.com and the NHTSA has multiple records of people filing a complaint with the same issue.

I brought it to my local Ford dealer and they say they've never heard of other trucks with the problem. What gives Ford ???

Hello guys, joined this forum today, because of the same problem. The Hill Descent / Advance Track fault issue, came on this morning. Noticed the turn signals would not stay on...? I live about 2 miles from the dealer, so headed that way. I got a call that it was the steering rack and bad news, I was 13 miles over warranty (60,013). They are negotiating with Ford on this issue. They gave me a loaner for tonight and wanted me to keep the mileage down.

While finding this forum, I see that many people are having the same issue. Strange that Ford hasn't stepped up to the plate with a real fix.

This is a MESS!

Default Same problem..need help

I'm having the same issue with my 2015 lariat screw. (I didn't see a 2015 thread). it has happened 6 times in the past week. I took it to the dealer ship and they said everything looks fine. Had several codes but they said there is no code for steering rack and they would not replace a steering rack based off of an Internet thread.

Any advice would be appreciated..

How are you guys getting this replaced under warranty when there is no code?
