Question high mileage 5.0 - 200+ ??

Anyone out there have 200+ on their 5.0? What maintenance have you done? Any major issues?

I'm at 144 - brake pads/rotors, tires, oil.

Have you changed your transmission fluid at all? I'm about to cross 60k and figure it can't hurt, but good to hear from those with higher miles what has been done.

Damn! That's a lot of miles....did you buy it with high miles or what do you do to rack them up? I'm at 27k on my 14 STX.

I just turned 100k on my 13. I had a tune up and all the fluids changed.

I haven't touched the trans fluid, but I'd say it's about time.

I do outside sales and average about 1,100 miles/week. It had 18 miles when I bought it

Ford claims the transmission fluid service life is 150,000 miles under normal operation. I plan on changing mine around 100,000 as extra preventative maintenance but any sooner then that seems like I waste. Of course if you tow heavy often or start seeing a color change in the fluid that's a different story.

Yeah, I know they claim 150k is "normal" but I mostly use the truck for towing ~6k lbs of trailer and car, plus the occasional run around town. Would rather be safe than sorry as fluid is cheaper than a trans rebuild...

Very true. The good thing is ford uses the same auto in the 5.0 behind both the eco boost and 6.2 so it should be able to last a long time behind the 5.0. Especially when it's well maintained.

I read somewhere here that the transmission fluid is lifetime unless you are a severe duty user. That's just what I saw here. It terrifies me to change tranny fluid, isn't that when something usually goes bad anyway?
