Default High Beam Headlight Issues - HELP

Hey Everyone,

New f150 owner here, bought a used f150 xtr with 60k on it a week and a half ago. Went camping over the weekend and tried using the high beams for the first time.

Pull the lever to the flash to pass and they come on, release they turn off again. Pull past the detent and release and they turn off just like the flash to pass.

Is this a known issue? I scheduled an apointment with the dealership in a few days, but wanted to see if anyone else had encountered this before.

I've only had it work twice where it stays in the on position, but is there some feature im missing here?

Thanks,
Schlomo

What year is your truck? Some of the older trucks you actually push the stick forward. It's that way on my escape.

2012 it says right in the Owners Manual to pull toward me. There is no way to push it forward.

yeah 2012 is pull towards you. without forcing it... have you pulled a little harder? maybe the switch has rotated internally?

I've tried pulling it, holding it, but i feel if i pull it any further it will break off. Its interesting too because if (sometimes) if i change the light setting (from automatic to parking or the other setting) it will work at times, but not the other setting. Its not consistent though.

Not talking down at you. But make sure the lights are actually on. Turn the switch on yoir dash past park lights. The drls may have provided enough light to make you think they were on. If you have auto lights it will do the same thing till it thinks its dark enough

That makes more sense. I was wondering why it wouldnt stay on when in Auto light mode. I'll have to test tonight to be sure they come on and stay on in auto mode once its dark enough.
