So I got HID's installed less than a year ago. Last month one of them stopped working and the guy replaced it. Last week it went out again twice in 3 days. I took it back and he said my factory harness is coroded from being wet. Said the contacts were green but he was able to scrape the corosion off but not 100%. Is this a Ford issue or did this guy jack up the install and is now blaming Ford? I have not seen it but he said when he took the light housing out there was water in it. Not sure how that happened or where is got in... anyone had this problem?

Do your lights leak? I had one of mine replaced under warranty. Which connection was corroded?

I dont see a single drop of water anywhere in the housing. Im assuming the connection that plugs into the ballast... Im gonna wait to see if it happens again then take it apart myself.. If there is corrosion im gonna dremell if off and try and seal it up

Yes, he should have used dielectric grease in any of the electrical connections to keep out water.

How much and where should you apply it?

A good dollop, enough to cover the electrical connection in female side, smush it all around and make sure it gets in there then when the male end goes in it will be covered.

had the exact same problem but didnt replace the headlights, the issue was in the harness getting water and going green. On my 2nd harness now and have a 3rd one on standby just incase.
I think insulating the harness cover where the connecters are should take care of the problem.

Or adding dielectric grease when you connect harness, easy preventive maintenance.

Is it the passenger side? Under the battery?
