The first pic is just under Bluetooth settings. Once you click the blue arrow on your sync system (mine is a bit confusing because of the three sync systems my phone is tethered to) it will take you to the second pic. Just turn notifications on and wait for a text. P.s. it doesn't seem to work if you text yourself.
I can get to that second page on my iphone5 but it doesn't show the text notification option.

I know what you mean, I tend to forget when I drive the wife's Outback! It tends to not go well as one time I got it to throw a code for the crank sensor. The code threw at 250 RPMs!

Do you have MyFordTouch? I think the 2011-2012 sync system will work but can't confirm. I know 2010s will not. If so, is it the latest version? You can go to sync myriads.com and check/download the new version. It's not the phone. It has to be your sync system. Hope this helps.

going from my truck, to my wife's lexus with push-button start, and all the new mercury marine engines are now coming with "smart-start" i am always trying to start everything by just bumping the key or looking for a button on the dash.
