HID vs Sylvania lights

HID vs Sylvania lights
The first thing I did when I got my truck was put the brightest bulb that sylvania makes and I am still not satisfied with the lighting. I have started to look at HID lights assuming that I will get brighter lights. For those of you who have put HID lights in your truck, what brand did you go with? Also, did you get projector headlights? I have used lights from blindingHID.com and they worked awesome so far. Any input would be great. Thanks

I ordered mine from Jon_To here, who sells for Third Gear Performance. I had gotten the "high-performance" bulbs first and kept blowing them. The HIDs are brighter and more reliable.

Which Sylvania did you use?
I only ask since I just purchased a set of Silverstar Ultra's and was reluctant to do so since the Silverstar's were junk and were of no help. The Ultra's actually do help alot more than I thought they would and I am VERY critical of light output. IDK if it was worth the $50 on the pair but it was a rather noticable increase in light output... wich I was suprized by.

I did get the ultra's. I came from a duramax that had the all on mod, which turns on all 6 lights when I hit the highs. I think the major draw back of the h13 bulb is that the high beam is covered the same as the low is. The silverado has no cover over the high beam, which makes the light go a lot farther. I found some driving lights that I believe I can hid behind my grill without seeing them. I'm a little shaky of going to HID bulbs just bc I drive alot and if something goes wrong I would like to be able to get the parts to my truck at the local auto store.

Also, the site where I am looking at HID lights has the option to upgrade to 55w. Will that get too hot for the housing and will that make the lights that much brighter?

No... The only problem with 55w HID's is the initial draw from the ballasts as they are trying to reach operating temp. If you go with 55w HID's, make sure you run the external harness with the relay.
Temp is not an issue with any HID's.
