BTW, I retrofitted my motorcycle with projectors just so I can have HID headlights
This is a pretty ignorant statement because not everyone that gets HIDs is doing it for the color.

I want the whitest possible light and want to be able to see the lines in the road when it's raining, but why should I be limited to buying $50 Silverstars every couple of years when I can get better 5K HIDs that will last way longer.

My cutoff is exactly the same with stock bulbs and the HIDs. The HIDs just provide more lumens to the same area. I've driven my wife's car while she drove my truck behind me and I didn't notice any glare and it certainly wasn't blinding.

I will agree that people that use 8K+ bulbs are definitely doing it for the look and not the output.

But tell us, how much did it cost you to retrofit that motorcycle?

I've retrofitted headlamps personally with hid projectors. If you don't have the necessary skill set to do them correctly and have to pay someone. You would be looking at a minimum of 500 dollars. Part, labor, etc. If you do have the skill set to make them, you are still looking at a minimum of 250 for a basic conversion and more for bixenon.

Most people don't have that kind of money. So when a plug an play kit can be had for 60 bucks or so. I can't say I blame people for wanting to be safer. Most of the time, the oncoming glare to other drivers can be minimized by simply aiming the headlamp output down some.

I bet it looks hot, but for most that is a lot of money just for parts.

Never flashed once in the 10+ months I've had the 35watt plug-and-play kit and I do a lot of early morning dark driving.
