Default HID headlight issue

About 4 months ago I changed out my stock lamps for plug and play hids. Sometimes the passenger side would not come on when I started the truck. I could flip them on and off and it would come back on no problem. Last Wednesday it went out permanently. Thursday I replaced the whole ballast/bulb because it got corroded somehow and shorted out. That lasted until today. Now it's out again. This time I used electrical tape everywhere I could and even put some grease into the connection to keep out water. What the heck am I missing? Has anyone else had this issue or have suggestions? The driver side has been rock solid.
Thanks, Rick

It does sound like the humidity is getting in somewhere on the housing. If there was a way you could pressure test the housing with smoke, you'd be able to see where this is happening.
You'd have to seal one of the holes after taking one of the bulb housings out, hook up a hose and introduce smoky air into the housing under slight pressure. Any leaks in the housing would show in short order if you could do this.

I don't normally give my 2 cents in HID plug 'n play threads, but please do not introduce smoke into your headlights...I would pretty much guarantee this would leave a major haze on the inner lens.

I recommend getting a set of OEMs and be done with the headaches and illegality issues all in one.

You will be happy with them.

^ unfortunately it is illegal to add hids to a vehicle if they did not come from the factory with them so oem's are still technically illegal.
