Default HID fog-lights

Hey, guys.

I haven't be on the forum for a long time so bear with me. A couple months ago, I bought my very first "brand new" truck. It's a loaded out 2013 Fx4 supercrew. I absolutely love my truck! I have to decided to come back to this forum for helps. I want to mod her out a little bit. I was wondering if anyone has ever put hid in the foglight housings. I want to put HID lights in the foglight housings to match the HID headlights.

The issues with hid lights in a non hid housing are excessive light scatter, blinding oncoming traffic and the temperature of the bulbs can melt the housings. If you are going to do it, do it right and have some retrofit the housings with a projector housing made for hid lights. Nice truck, I have the same truck but in white. I put led bulbs in my fogs just to match the hid color headlights.

I have 6000k 55W HID headlights and fogs, no issues of melting lenses.... I don't see the point in paying an arm and a leg for retrofitted fogs. Just buy a set of 35W 6000k bulbs and put in, aim them downwards after install so you don't blind people in little cars. Light scattering in the fog lights is minimal compared to the headlights and easier to redirect with a simple adjustment.

Retrofitted LED fogs from bilinvic. I had LED bulbs in there prior. Hated them.

Put some morimoto 3five's in your fog lights. As long as you use fog lights only when necessary you won't blind anyone. Get 4300k to match stock, 5000k if you want a bit whiter. I run 3000k (yellow) and it is great for bad weather, but I only run them in the morning when it is foggy and when it is raining. Stay away from 6000k IMO, my old 6000k set up made fog, rain, and snow BLIND the hell out of me. Plus, you don't see things that well on black roads. My 5000k 50 watt set up on the other hand, is much easier on my eyes.

Retrofitted fog lights confuse me. The whole point of a fog light is to scatter light in the foreground in front of you. Projection lenses defeat this purpose if you ask me..

If you got a capped HID bulb wouldn't the light scatter be the same as a halogen bulb?

I would get 35watt because the 55watt I had melted the lenses.

3000K 35watt HIDs. Bought from thereteofitsource.com. Best HID kits bar none!! I also have a set of Hella HID off-road lights in my lower bumper. Those are also 3000K! HID fog-lights-image-3663445893.jpg

One day I will have the headlight projectors upgraded, projectors retroed into my fogs and the Hellas replaced with a light bar.
