Default HID in ANZO U-bar headlights

I have the ANZO u bar projector headlights in my f150 and was wanting to install some HIDs. I know on their website it says not compatible but i think that's just to cover there a** if something goes wrong. On another post I made someone posted pictures of a raptor with same headlights and morimoto HID kit and said it looked good, I tried contacting him on how to install and other stuff but didn't get a reply. If anyone knows someone or has installed the H7 kit in these lights any input would be great. I saw on a Dodge forum someone showed how to do it on their dodge but it was different from the F150. Again any help would be great! Thanks, Nate

They say not to do it because the projector is a halogen projector and not a true HID projector and will not direct the light the same way a real HID projector will. If you do a search around here, you will find many people unsatisfied with the output of the various Ebay "projectors" out there and who ultimately either go back to stock or upgrade to a retrofit or the OEM HID's.

I'm sure you will find some satisfied with the light output as well, but I've personally never seen an aftermarket set of lights like that that looked good and had good light output. Just my opinion

Skip the cheap stuff n save for the real deal stuff, it's tough I'm in the process of doing it now but some of those ebay lights etc have problems and don't look like they belong on a min $40k truck!

All true. The Anzo headlight is able to accept a HID bulb, but will not direct the light perfectly. For instance, my spyder headlights have a cut off and DO provide better than stock lighting with the HIDs, but some light can be seen WAY above the cut off.

Struggling through my retrofit now and I can say that the morimoto mini H1 has VASTLY superior lighting.

Default HID on ANZO

I got the ANZO 111264 U-BAR headlights for my 2011 F150 and will install H1 HID MORIMOTO for High Lights and LED Philips for low beams.
I will post the results once I get installed.

HID on highs isn't the best as response isn't immediate.

Lightbulb Light Mistake

Thanks for the tip Wannafbody, you save me a from a big headache. The right way is to do just the opposite.

I just installed the Anzo U Bar Projector headlights this weekend and the cutoff is awesome. Also installed an aftermarket HID kit with 4300k bulbs. It's all about putting the bulb in right (wire facing down) and adjusting them properly.

I know that has happened with original Morimoto Minis and 55 watt kits. HID in a halogen projector may look to be an improvement but it may lack some foreground lighting, it may have extra lighting artifacts above cutoff, etc. It will never be near as good as running HID bulbs and ballasts in a HID projector.
